A tagging system?

  • I'm not sure if this has been brought up but I really wish there was a way you can tag other pirates that are not in your crew as friendly or hostile. Like make their user name change color to red for hostile or green or blue for friendly. Doing the Skull Fort Challenge brought to light the confusion to know who is from whos crew. It's hard to keep up with all the long and complicated gamer tags when it comes to recognizing a threat.

Example. I was slooping with my friend yesterday and saw a Skull fort appear. It also seemed like everyone on the server saw it as multiple ships were making there way there. We got there and used our megaphone to tell a Galleon ship that was already there that we were friendly and didn't care about the loot only commendations. They agreed to peace but then the rest of the ships started docking at the Fort. A Galleon approached and started firing at us particularly because they confused us for another sloop. Before long we had other priates on our boat but didn't want to accidently shoot the friendly Galleon we peace talked earlier. The friendly Galleon was confused also as they didn't want to hurt us but wanted to help fight off members of the other Galleon. It was a good 10 min of yelling "Whos on your crew" or "Is xxxturtleman on your crew or 3945goil in your crew". It was madness. Anyone else like the idea of tagging other crews via choosing a color for their gamer tag?

  • Sounds ok to me, as long as:

    A. You have an open spot on your crew (no going over limits)
    B. You can't turn off the tag (stop abuse)
    C. No second or third ship. Meaning if you tag into another crew your ship scuttles.

I am sure there are other things to take into consideration, but those are a few off the top of my head.

  • @dumbdrunkpirate My idea is more of a visual one not so much tagging yourself into another crew. Mostly just to visually take notes on who you aligned yourself with and who to be weary of. When there are 5 different crews and everyone has a white gamertag it's hard to remember who's from whos crew and who is a sneaky snake :p

  • @the-def-star I love the idea! During the Meg event we had a hostile galleon attack our galleon after we completed the event with another galleon. We were all understanding about it, but there were a few injuries that were not meant.

I'd also like the ability to mark someone who has been aggressive so I know them when I see them again. When you have 3 sloops in an area it can be hard to recognize the offender. I don't want to go after an innocent bystander.

I don't think it should be limited though. You could use it as a memory aid. It doesn't turn off FF or even signal you to the other party, it just helps you keep track.

  • Such a feature would have proved very useful many times. However, i'd vote to keep it as is. It's fun to sneak into an alliance to pull off shenanigans because everyone thought you were on the other crew. Hooray for sneaky snakes

That can still happen. When doing that Fort another Galleon pulled up claiming to be friendly. We finished the Fort, even though we were the only sloop there and didn't want any of the loot a member of that Galleon starting shooting our ship and killed me and my friend. Luckily I was able to spawn back and catch the name of the offender. I told the other Galleons that that one pirate sunk our ship even though we all had a peace pack. So the Galleon of that pirate locked him in the brig. I snuck to the brig and put a bullet in that pirates head while he was locked up as revenge :p
