Legendary Skull forts!

    There's been an idea that's been in my head for a while now and whilst playing with my regular crew spit balling ideas to each other we got to talking about my idea. We were completing our 2nd fort of the night and with the new skeleton type, forts are even easier. forts were pretty easy for us anyway but the barrel enemies help make even lighter work of a fort. We usually attempt the fort and give other crews the treasure as we don't normally need the gold and we're max rep but we love doing forts and switching up our game play.

    Whilst discussing ideas I told my friends about having legendary forts spawn what would be purple skulls. These would offer a harder challenge for a better reward for pirate legends We all added our own ideas to this and just had fun with the concept. We talked about having to complete a regular fort then using the skullfort key to start a legendary fort that other players would see and try to contest. this would be so fun in my opinion as it offers rewards for pirate legends because regular forts don't contribute to Athena's fortune. and doing them can seem a bit pointless as fun as they are! it also adds time and risk towards it as you have to wait for a regular fort to spawn, win it! which would then initiate a legendary Skullfort that you would have to win at a harder difficulty with every player on the server essentially coming to that legendary skull as it wouldn't appear very often and the rewards were much greater. the rewards would be the legendary variants of a regular skull fort and would level Athena's fortune up the same amount of rep as a regular skull fort would level you up and non legends alike could contest you and reap your rewards. just like a regular Skullfort!

    This is just an idea feel free to discuss how this kind of Idea could be added or similar ideas you and your crew have came up with whilst sailing the seas pirates! Other ideas from my crew involved having purple water that would act like the red sea surround a legendary fort and only pirate legend ships could enter safely, non legends would have to bail and repair like they would in the red sea but I don't think that idea is reasonable as I'd like the idea of knowing the whole server would want to try to contest the fort. Another idea that was said was having to complete a regular fort, then the legendary fort activating . But instead of attacking it, the players would actually have defend the fort with the help of skeletons. against other players! The idea would be for the legend to survive a certain time limit until the fort opened and they got their loot and the non legends would have to defeat the legendary Skullfort in a similar fashion to the regular Skullfort only with the harder difficulty and with the addition of having a legend defend the fort until they were defeated and the captain was spawned! This would offer a different method of game play and interactivity within forts that I'd be eager to see work.

    This event wouldn't happen too often and would offer a difficult choice to pirate legends. Get the loot and earn an easy 10k or risk losing that in hope of winning a better reward by initiating the legendary fort that everyone will come to take! This would also offer another way of leveling up the Athena's fortune rep which as of now I am feeling the grind on. and it would provide a real challenge as I've seen others suggest adding something for Athena's fortune in a regular fort but that to me feels too easy as a normal fort can be completed in 15 - 20 minute's with one or two crew members and doesn't seem to get contested nearly enough anymore! bring back the excitement SOT.

    This idea originated in my head because I love the idea of risking what I've earned for getting a greater reward. So if a variant of this idea was added to the game would you take the risk? I would love to hear your feedback and own ideas on this topic too and remember pirates! Don't be too greedy ;)

    Although not Legend myself yet (43, 47, 41, 1 getting there slowly) i welcome any additional ways of play that could net you Athena rep as well as further expand the things to do when reaching Legend status.

    Kudos to you and your crew on the idea.
    I would make one suggestion though instead of having the fort key you win give you the option to open or use to trigger a legendary fort what if instead you had to take said fort key to another fort?

    Essentially if you are a Pirate Legend and you pick up a fort key it would then trigger a map in your voyage wheel stating the fort that will trigger as a Legendary one. Then you would have to use the key there to trigger it.
    Just a random passing thought.

    @Ixxolos first, love the idea that you get the map to a new skull fort

    Second, I eanted to throw my two cents in for you to consider. What if instead of assualting the legendary fort, the legendary captain has to defend it. You get about 5 minutes to pick waves, type, spawn location, and can spend gold to increase the difficulty. Then you get to fight with the skeletons in defence of the fort earning 20% of the money invested every 10 minutes. At the end of 2 hours (having earned 240% of the gold you put in) the vault is unlocked and you can grab the regular reward. (An additional 100% of the gold you invest). If you are defeated before the end of two hours the vault is unlocked and the attackers can take the gold. (Whatever you have invested in)

    1, yes, this means after 50 minutes you would get all of your gold back
    2, an attacking crew could still steal the treasure
    3, you and the attacking crew can both profit (however, maybe there should be some sort of bonus for killing the enemy crews)

  • @rattlyfob This is an interesting concept and if balance correctly I could see this variant working. I think some of the suggestions here have huge potential and I hope somebody from rare takes notice!

    Obviously, its a very rough idea and it needs balancing, but i think it would give legends a good way to spend and earn money and could create a very dynamic event

  • @ath3na-cr33d Funny thing is I had a similar idea come to me recently. My idea was you beat a tier 1 fort, then have a new alter in the world somewhere that you must sacrifice the fort key at which would start a much harder much more rewarding fort, these forts would be the remaining unused forts in the game. I even thought a third tier could be added since there are 9 forts currently. Would be cool to have the choice of 1 and done or risk it all to get a much larger payout.

    This is basically what I was hoping the skeleton thrones event was going to be before it released lol... no such luck, but I like the idea, could provide for a really fun world pvp minigame/player boss

  • I like the idea of Legendary Skull forts that only Pirate Legends can access/fight. Hell make it all 2/4 have to be to activate it. Give PL's something that only THEY can do. That's coming from a 43/41/41. Still have a ways to go.

  • @dumbdrunkpirate This is another really good idea, I like the thought of Pirate legends attacking each other as they are the most experienced at the game but my thought with this kind of variant would what if there wasn't any pirate legends on your sever besides your own crew? It would feel like easy pickings! and I want a challenge. 🙈
