I think megalodon is broken

  • Yet again another play session of no megalodon being seen while anywhere in the east or south east or anything east pass Plunder Valley or Lone Cove. We hear the rushing of water and go to look around and nothing. We have even slowed our ship to a halt and no megalodon to be seen, just the sound of rushing water. Then on the west side of the map we don’t hear rushing water but we do hear a growl and see the megalodon.

Since the megalodon has been introduced the roam free we have never seen it on the east side of the map. We have only encountered it on the west side of the map. I think it’s broken for me and my sloop partner, which we are playing from the same internet connection.

I've seen it more often on the east side of the map, than on the west side so far...
But anyway the meg should be a bit more agressive...he bearly attacks, last time he followed us over the half map, started from westside of Wanderers Refuge, came to Paradise Spring and he waited away from the island for us, same at Crooks Hollow...when we arrived at Crows Nest Fortress he left and didn't come back...and the whole time he never attacked, we shot him also, but he was still only circleing around us...
Would really love to, that he's more agressive...this way it's a joke

  • @schwammlgott The one’s we do get on the west side of the map usually come with their own music and attack us without us provoking it.

Never realized there's a different music for the different meg's...good to know

  • @schwammlgott Well for us we don’t get music for all of the megalodons we enoucounter only ones that we have had music with are the ones that attack us unprovoked.

Maybe he didn't attack us, because we shot...got him scared...😂

  • First time I saw the meg was when we were sailing away after dealing with the kraken, didn’t notice a fin, just surfaced and took a chunk out of our galleon, killed 3 of us and we had no supplies to repair....loved it!! We were on the way to Golden Sands.

  • @dutchyankee How rude indeed!

  • Me and my Wife have fought it about 4-5 times since HD. Heck we killed Meg again last night. We were chasing a sloop that had chased us before, and them bam Meg came to their rescue. So we peeled off them and fought Meg. It was more fun than chasing that other sloop.

  • @schwammlgott Yea i would say hes really "Passive" aggressive.

    ba dum tss.

  • Alright... now that I’ve told others about our broken Meg or Don, last night it followed us from around Plunder Valley to Plunder Outpost. Nothing unusual about that. Then we left Plunder Outpost to head to the skull fort at Shark Fin Camp. We had 2 different megalodons follow us all the way to the skull fort. We have NEVER had one follow us into The Wilds nor show up in The Wilds. We would always hear the rushing water but never see a megalodon.

Until last night’s encounter, we only seen megalodons in the Shores of Plenty. We could spend hours, up to 3 hours or as little as an hour in The Wilds and never see a megalodon. But as soon as we would get pass Love Cove, Cannon Cove or Plunder Valley a megalodon would sudden appear. Like it’s always waiting for us to sail to Sanctuary or Golden Sands.
I still think our megalodons are broken while east of Lone Cove and Plunder Valley.

@schwammlgott In the announcement of the megaladon being added they did mention there are passive and aggressive megaladons.

Yes, but following over the whole map and getting hit by these two pirates and still not attacking?

  • @hoppentosse said in I think megalodon is broken:

@trophy-un1ocked Personally, I'd rather see whales than a megalodon... Somehow more fitting, a little more realistic. Let's see what else comes: Phorusrhacidae, Macrocheira kaempferi, Arthropleura, witches riding on brooms,...

Add some skeletons riding sharks and I will support this statement 100%

  • @purplemajic

Hmm, this is a strange one.

When we've encountered Meg it seems to be mostly to the SE of Golden Sands, but we've also come across her over towards shipwreck bay and further north towards the skellie fort of Shark Fin as well.

  • @purplemajic I've seen the Meg pretty much everywhere (from Ancient Spire, Shipwreck Bay, Shark Bait Cove, Lone Cove) so she is omnipresent and always lurking!

  • It would be awesome if megs were programmed to avoid the area where the Kraken is, so you could tell you were about to get grabbed by the Kraken because the megs broke off the chase.

I'd also like to see the Megs and Kraken fight, imagine getting grabbed by the Kraken and rescued by Meg.

First things first though, I'd like to see the Kraken become an actual threat again.

  • @katttruewalker Well this play session we only encountered her in Shores of Plenty again. She followed us all the way to Twin Groves. Then we went to Galleon’s Grave and back towards Sanctuary and she appeared again and followed us to Golden Sands Outpost. Then that was the last we seen of megalodons for the last 2 hours of sailing around by Ancient Spire Outpost up to Dagger Tooth. So, I don’t know why we can’t get it to spawn in the east side of the map.

  • All of the AI in SoT is broken. The game needs across the board improvements to AI.

  • I just killed him, I found him in Ancient Spire Outpost.
I agree that the guys are talking here, I think he should be extremely aggressive. I passed him 02 times, the first one did nothing, because it was full of treasure to deliver, the second I already attacked, and the combat happened normally, no bugs, or passive boss.
I think he should attack even when the players did nothing, if it had been that way, the battle would have been much more "tense", since he would have the concern of dying and losing all the chests, making the battle even more fun .

  • Yea you have been lucky we had the Meg and another crew fight us for an hour lastnight at the same time it was just one large stale mate no one was winning
