Last night we encountered the megalodon a few times and twice it turned towards our sloop and like nuzzled the side of our sloop and then just swam off. It didn’t ram or push our sloop just like put its face into the side. It was weird. Is it a glitch? Do I need to report it?

Nope some are not aggressive...you got lucky they were not hungry.
We had two playing with us tonight. We all get excited when she pops up. She just swam around us and sometimes rubbed our sides. Galleon tonight so she was a little surprised to see us on it. Or, maybe it was because our eldest son was able to join. I told him she wanted him to jump in and play with her. He was mean and declined the invitation.
We had 4 encounters with 2 different ones. Meg and Don? They took turns playing with us as we island hopped for skellies. We felt bad as we approached one of our islands and she looked sad as she swam away.
I may put a little too much emotion onto her, but she's my most beloved creature in the game! I'd take her home and keep her in my bathtub if I could!
@dragonsire2016 It just seemed broken. I mean I expected it to bump or push the ship, but it did nothing. It would have been cool if it did rock or push the ship. It would have been like something out of Jaws. 😜😜

I've had them nibble..just single bite a few times.
@dragonsire2016 we had no damage after they did it. We did only get 2 holes from a booty chomp. We usually get 4-6 holes from booty chomp.

The devs have said they have different personalities some will swim around and go away, some will nibble, some will try and eat the ship lol
@pumpkinkangaroo I like Meg and Don! I just wish they were more aggressive and more sightings. We spent over 2 hours in The Wilds last night and never seen her. As soon as we went pass Lone Cove is when we seen 2 different ones. We never see them pass Lone Cove or Plunder Valley. Last night was the first time we had one follow us to Lost Gold Fort.
I think it would be cool if it chomped us if we jumped or fell into the water with it.
All I know is my sloop partner and I don’t see Meg or Don enough is a 6-10 hour play session on the same instance the entire time. And when we do encounter them, it’s very lacking. One chomp Don and done.
@dragonsire2016 yes. I’m just a bit sad we don’t see them more frequent. And this is coming from someone who was scared to play the game for a couple of days after the megalodons were released to roam. Haha! I can safely say I’m no longer afraid of being attacked by a megalodon because they aren’t much of a threat. There is one that comes with its own music, that’s the aggressive megalodon. We have only encountered 3 with music.
We've been lucky then. We've seen them all over the map. I have a theory that most of the time they won't attack unless you fire on them. I'm sure there is one out there who just want's a toothpick, but most just seem to want to join in on the fun.
I'm sure they will be adjusting them as time goes on and new threats are introduced. I know that having them be more aggressive would be fine with us. Maybe not full on attack mode all the time, but more of a threat.
@pumpkinkangaroo I wish we’d see them in more parts of the map than in just Shores of Plenty. That’s the only place we ever see them. 😞 I guess we are just not interesting to Meg or Don like other ships are.

lol one of the first times I seen one that is where I was. I even said wouldn't be ironic if...to my crew mate when I seen the fin and nearly p**d my pants
@purplemajic I really should be careful what I wish for! This morning we saw Meg (with the blue fins) as we headed to Dagger Tooth. She was her usual sweet self. Then Don (no blue) came along as we sailed towards Shipwreck Bay.
Don was in a mood! He about swallowed our sloop whole! Knocked both of us off the ship as it was sailing full speed toward the island. By the time we got back on the ship the island was laying into us and there was no hope.
It was an interesting way to start the day that's for sure!

Pretty much it can have three interaction patterns:
- It will attack your ship relentlessly like Meg did during the event
- It will bite the ship once and swim off
- It will appear, swim near you, the swim off.
Once was being attacked by a sloop and one of them showed up. We were able to "control" it by lining up the sloop's shots meant for us to hit the megalodon. Caused it to chase them down and sink them, never once bit us.
