List of current pirates on a server

  • Since you insist on crews working together soo much, how about including a list of everyone logged into the server to open up communication? Earlier tonight my crew joined another galleon and defeated a skull fort. And to no surprise, a third galleon came after both of us. After our friendly galleon was sunk while my crew had the sacred key. We lost all communication with them and no one on my crew could remember their complicated names to attempt a message or party invite. But if I could have pulled up a list of people in that server, similar to looking at a scoreboard in COD or BF, I could have easily recognized a name and messaged them.

  • Yes! This would have a lot of potential...
A screen showing all people on the server, at least names.. perhaps once you have come into contact or seen their gamer tags with your own eyes in the game, it would reveal more info about the player...

This could also be a way to see if anyone has a bounty worth going after (if they ever introduce such a dynamic)

And it could also allow for organizing your own event within the server

  • My only concern with this idea is that it will ruin the mystery of approaching a ship, and that I believe was one of Rare's biggest goals when creating Sea of Thieves... the unknown.

Some people might complain and say information like this ruins their "immersion" but I actually like your suggestion.

Would be cool to see who is in your game world.

The xbox-app already has this feature. (for all games)

    1. go to the tab where you can see your friends
    2. on top of that list, there is a filter with a little arrow
    3. "show all" / "show clubs" / "recent players"

This list will update as soon as you can see another ship, that is close enough to you
so that you can see their ship's color/sails (not quite on the horizon, but still far away).
The list is available for both xbox and PC players.

Sadly there is a bug since SoT patch 1.0.6, where the list is either not updating at all
or it stops updating randomly after some time.
    The patch notes said:

Recent Players list will no longer be delayed in updating players from other crews.

While this fix actually made the list work quicker, it also seems to have broken the list, somehow.

I have talked to the xbox support several times and they assured me
"this is something that Rare has to fix on their Servers".

For me the list is working 30% of the time (since patch 1.0.6).
Before that patch, it was working everytime and would list every Player - which was nice.

I already contacted the SoT support several times in order to tell them,
that the patch 1.0.6 "fix" randomly disables the list, rather than improving it.

Please @Rare-Employee: revert the changes made in patch 1.0.6 and re-enable that list!

The list wouldn't even need to have that much information though. It wouldn't need to show who is which crew and how many are in all the crews, their ranks, etc. Just a simple list of gamer tags :)

  • @drfauli
We meet again Dr. frauli.....I definitely looked at recent players immediately and it was only showing 4 days prior. Out of curiosity though, do you know if you have to come across another crew in the game for their name to appear in r.p. or will all names in server appear automatically in r.p.?

  • @loopct I think a complete server list from the start would be better than just adding as you come across them in the world. Especially if rare continues with the concept of crews working together for big adventures. It would make arranging them a lot easier.

  • I like the mystery of not knowing who is on the other side. If there would be such a list to be implemented I'd like to see it in a more natural form. Perhaps a bounty board at the outposts with the posters of each pirate in the server pasted on?

  • I actually prefer not knowing who is on my server
although a list of "previously met pirates" without indication if they are still on the server or not would be an acceptable middle ground

  • The recent players list on my console is consistently hours, days, or games behind - which for me, makes it mostly useless. There's no point in saying, "GG, from GG!" for an encounter from a week ago... 😑
