Make closed crews have hosts.

  • Can we please implement lobbies? If you want to join open crew, then awesome and keep everything the way it is. But what I am getting extremely frustrated about are starting closed lobbies just for the purpose of putting a quest on the table and then flipping the crew type to open as I have found when I join a open crew, nothing happens. No one puts a voyage down, people sail around in circles, never leave outpost, stand on the boat staring at each other, etc. So I have combated this by doing a closed crew, putting down a voyage, and making it then joinable so crewmates actually join the game and realize there is a PURPOSE to this game (which I blame on the lack of any kind of tutorial which just throws you on a ship and wants you to figure everything out on your own). Except I get all of the jerks and first time players who either don't understand what to do, or don't want to do anything. SO they just stand on the boat playing music, eating all the bananas, and more recently, throwing whatever treasure is on the boat into the ocean. It is almost like the starting pirates have stopped playing, and now the seas are flooded with newbies who just want to cause grief and be a burden rather than play the game. How about if you start a private crew, that person becomes a host. They have the ability to kick players who are not contributing anything. This would be especially useful on sloops as there is no brig option. I am just getting tired of barely being able to play the game anymore. This game used to be fun and now it just makes me aggravated every time I try to play by being teamed up with useless and trolling players.

  • @drummerzone Since the open/closed crew feature has been implemented rando crews have gone from bad sometimes to usually bad. Sounds like you're trying to cope with it in an interesting way, but might I suggest joining one of the communities/crews/fleets that have formed? Or find a crew in the official SoT discord. I guarantee that will alleviate some of your frustration. ^_^

  • @blackbeard-lufy I have tried finding some people to play with online and in-game, but all of the people I have met have basically stopped playing and moved to other games. And my handful of real-life friends who got the game stopped playing about a month after launch. So I have been stuck trying to random crews, but it just makes me want to quit playing all together because it is that bad. If making private crews have hosts isn't practical, it could also help to make the lobbies more reputation-tiered. For instance, my title is Master Gold Hoarder. Stop pairing me with Sailors which, to me, means you just started playing or haven't figured out how to change the title. Make an algorithm that matches crews with similar reputation levels. Even if I have a title of Master Gold Hoarder, I don't need to be paired with other gold hoarders. Even high ranked merchants or order of souls players will work. I just want players who aren't dead wait or will sail the ship away while I am on an island doing a voyage..

  • @drummerzone Hey! I still rock the sailor title lol. I'm just so non-conformist and hip like that. I'll send you a DM with details of the community I help manage. I think you'd really like it. We've got a lot of great folks and crews and plenty of experienced legends.
