Treasure maps... problems and secrets

  • Some of the X-marks-the-spot maps are a nightmare because of the size of the Island. The bigger the Island, the less accurate the map appears. terrain detail seems to be lost and the X appears to be over one area but when I reduce the "Field of view" the X adjusts to the proper location and more detail is shown for terrain features.

This leads me to believe zoom function is needed and achievable!

Next is my suggestion for a game mechanic.

Holding up a treasure map in front of a OoS lamp to reveal an occasional extra secret Treasure. Only with that lamp though...

Treasure maps on Smuggler's Bay are basically off by 20-30 feet. Definitely need to rework the treasure maps, even if you just get the ability to zoom in on them just to make the X not cover so much space.

  • A zoom feature would be nice to have. I agree that the maps tend to be off some.

  • Don't force me to use that ugly lamp!

I'd like to see an improvement on the one hand but on the other having a zoom function would be a detrement. Maybe a bigger map so you can see more detail?

Like a larger folding version of the island's map you need to put down on the ground and inspect?

  • @hynieth if you think the lamp is ugly, then buy a new one

  • @sgt-palooggoo Op suggested using the order of souls lamp, I dislike that lamp.

  • @hynieth oh that lamp!
    I hate that wich's lamp!
Dang it to the depths I say!

  • Just have it so you flip the maps over to see a close up.

  • You can have a crew mate hold the map out for you to see.

Now look at it with your spyglass.

  • @mmountain @WarlordWoody22
98% of the time I'm not around another crew member to check their map. And if we stop long enough to check it that way, we get attacked by the skellies....

  • Invisible ink would be an amazing addition to the game. Means you need to invest in the faction lamp or have someone in your crew (or another crew) to find it. Maybe have a small glyph on the map to give a clue to the secret.

Invisible ink would be great, however i wound't use the OoS lamp, instead there will be a very specific lamp only located in some islands. so if you want that secret stash you need to spend time getting to one of 3-5 lamps on the server and then remembering (writing down) the instructions/location/riddle etc.

Could also have the lamp or lantern reveal another line of the riddle much like how riddles work currently.
