Have Pioneer Sessions Started?

  • I've definitely seen/heard about people being selected for the new Pioneer Program. However, have the actual weekly sessions started yet?

    Thanks!

  • @seldros if they have, they wouldn't be allowed to talk about it...NDR.

The first rule of fight club.....

  • @pink-geek-chic Ah, ok. I didn't know that was covered by the NDA... Thanks for letting me know!

  • @seldros Yep. Read a post last week about some people who were in a session.

Can't really tell you how true it is but I think they have indeed started.

  • @xcalypt0x Really? I wonder what things they are testing... Well, cool! Thanks a bunch!

  • @seldros I have a pioneer on my friends list and saw him playing Pioneer SoT (can't remember the exact shown name, but it showed pioneer in the name), so i expect they've been busy already.

  • Just for information the Pioneer FAQ on the website have recently been updated too -
    https://support.seaofthieves.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360000338388-Pioneer-FAQ

  • Yes the pioneer sessions have started. I talked to some friends who're pioneer, but they cannot talk about content because they are under NDA.

    Cant say anything NDA

Is saying you have participated in a pioneer session breaking the NDA? You're not leaking any content of the session.

I don't think it is, considering anytime we play if we don't play "appearing offline" your entire friends list can see what you're doing.

  • @xcalypt0x @Phantaxus

    Pioneer FAQ:

[...] sessions are subject to your Insider NDA. Please do not disclose anything from the Pioneer Programme to a non-Pioneer.

@Seldros this pretty much answers your question. When a player is in the Pioneer test session it runs very much like when we were in the Scale Test or the Beta tests (and therefore I would assume the alphas) in that they show up on your friends list as normal, but with something like "Sea of Thieves - Pioneer Session - Sailing the Seas" or some such (Can't remember) next to them instead of simply "Sea of Thieves - Sailing the Seas"

I would assume that most Pioneers know how precarious their position is and therefore wont post anything but vague answers here and who blames them? They want to remain Pioneers!

so in answer to your question yes - they are in sessions, but there is a very strict NDA for them (much as we had for the earlier Scale Test and the Alphas) meaning they can't discuss it outside of their own forum area, nor can they take pictures or video on their XBOX etc as it will automatically upload (in most cases) to XBL...

Hopefully a friendly @Deckhands will remove this post or edit it if I am not meant to be disclosing this information, but I would assume this is one of the best answers, along with @KattTruewalker 's post that you will get here now.

[EDIT] you can see in Mrs Truewalker's said post above the following:
Can I watch a Pioneer session?
The Pioneer Programme is under NDA, and no streams are allowed.

What happens a Pioneer breaks the NDA?
Any Pioneers found breaking the NDA will be removed from the programme.

Do not take photos, videos, or audio recordings of the Game.
Do not post photos, videos, or audio recordings of the Game on any venue. This also includes the Pioneer Programme Forum.
Do not describe any part of the Game on any venue unless we’ve instructed you to.
Do not allow others to watch you play the Game.
Do not leave the Game running unattended.

^ exactly this, I like what I do, I just don't have the clearance to tell you about it.

I reckon that starting off they are testing out the new ship (Brigantine) since that is probably the easiest of the new content to implement. They may be testing the cursed cannonballs and skeleton ships as well. If that has not started yet, I would guestemate that it would get introduced to them sometime in the next two weeks if the Devs plan on incorporating their feedback by the end of July.

  • why i have Players in my friendlist they r not active in the forum, but having the pioneer Status n playing the game less than me?? im honest i would like to get access in the pioneer program

There's a lot of factors that go into being picked for the Pioneer Programme. Rare hasn't released the details, but it goes beyond playtime and forum activity.

  • what then? just about bug reporting...i never reported a bug,
cause someone opened n a thread about anyway,it seems a lot pioneers were chosen randomly

  • @weedstar-deluxe if Rare released the criteria for Pioneer selection, a lot of people would try and 'game' the system to try and get a place.

e.g. if it was solely based on forum rep/post count, people would constantly post threads in the hope of getting noticed and get an invite.

Rare have their selection methods and they will vary depending on what they plan on testing.

  • I have supposedly joined the Pioneer program, but I have never received access to it. I joined just a few weeks ago. Something to do with a redeem code? Is only select Pioneers allowed in at this time?

  • @coralstar51199 Hey Coral you should have received an email saying welcome to the pioneers. In that email there is a little check box towards the bottom that you need to check to "opt in" in order for you to play the next pioneer session. There is no redeem code to play a pioneer session only the opt in check box is required.

  • @iceman-0007 I've never received an email. I'll contact support and ask. Thank you so much!

  • @coralstar51199 it happens to us all. check your junk mail and spam filters sometimes even I don't see them until it's too late.

It does not seem like the sent emails for this latest round. Currently, the best way to check if someone has been invited is to look at the forum account page for the invite and opt-in option.
