Has anyone else heard the Megalodon growl as it comes up on you? We were sailing east and almost to Wanders Refuge when a megalodon snuck up on us and made a growl sound that confused us because we didn’t even heard the rushing water sound. Just a loud growl sound that caused both of us to say “WT... was that?!” Then she backed off and swam away because we got close to Wanders Refuge.

@purplemajic Hahaha! The growl is what makes this for me...
It does growl a fair bit... it growled enough to wake @lizalaroo up and start firing at it yesterday! The meg is by far my favorite encounter now.
I hope we get maybe more variations in behavior and character of each meg.
@musicmee Do you happen to remember which color megalodon you guys got that growled? Ours was the white finned one.
@bsr-freeman we’ve had one, with no music, last night chase us until we got to an island. We gathered supplies and then we left to go get gunpowder barrels at the adjacent fort. A different meg showed up that had music, but as soon as we got close to the fort it swam away.
@purplemajic on our way in to the outpost the bright blue and white Meg appeared and swam round us a bit then disappeared to be replaced with the dark blue vicious one! Took a chunk out our sloop and knocked @musicmee in to the water. I thought he was a gonna!
@lizalaroo That sounds similar to the one we encountered last night. At first a blue and white then a dark blue one that was aggressive. It didn’t get a chance to bite us because we were at the fort before it could get an angle on us. But you could tell it was an aggressive one because it came with music. 😂

The bright blue/white finned one seems to be the more timid as it just swims on by, be warned though its just a decoy... her angrier sibling popped out of the water and started attacking us!
I've only had the one encounter so far...definitely the aggressive species. I was on shore leave for a few days but am back at sea now ;-) I sailed a few hours yesterday and nary a view of any species of the beastie! It will be interesting to note if color denotes the various species behavior...shiver me timbers! We're doing Victorian Science! :-D
@purplemajic Ah yes, Ive heard the growl first and have been surprised by just the wooshing water sound. I took video of the three encounters I had just trying to make it to one place. Each looked different and acted different. I was just thinking how cool it was to see meg swim around my boat and didn't do anything else but swim away after awhile, then I heard the growl and all because my hair was still standing straight up from the last encounter so my ears were free to hear all the sounds. I thought wow twice in one trip...wait why does this one look different on the back? oh my what a big mouth you have as I go into the water and think how stupid was I to trust a megalodon I've never met? Anyway after a five minute fight with lots of planks and lots of shooting and shouting...hope I didn't wake up my wife.... meg disappeared. Then I just about reached my destination, don't remember the island because it was a long night but again I heard something clue me in and go no way not again....but this time was like the first she came close, circled, and lifted a eye I think she winked at me but don't tell my wife. Anyway, sorry to carry on and love the meg encounters.
@kondrites haha! She winked at you 😂😂 That reminds me... I had to stop looking at skull fort skulls for awhile because I could swear they were winking at me. I’d tell my sloop partner “It winked at me! Did you see it!?” He’d say “no”. Then a while later I’d be looking at it while waiting for him to get back on the ship and it’d wink again and I’d say “It done it again! Did you see that time?!” He’d say “no”. It did it for weeks, then one update I never saw it wink at me again. 😩😞
@hoppentosse I’ve only met her in the seas of Shores of Plenty. We never start in Shores of Plenty, we always sail to there from the east mostly Galleon’s Grave or Ancient Spire outposts.
