im slightly tilted atm, just gathered loot for the last 1.5h on my sloop and had a dc for about 30sec and all my shiny treasure is gone.
1.5h are not so long so i will come over it, but it isn't the first time i had this problem and it is really killing my solo experience.
Having a chance to reconnect would be super nice.

@simplefu A similar thing happened to a friend of mine yesterday too, being able to directly reconnect would be really useful.
I think one issue with being able to reconnect is that it could be abused. Galleon coming to attack ? just unplug your modem for a few minutes then plug it back in and sail off. As much as i hate losing loot to a d/c, i would hate it even more if people could just log off or intentionally d/c so you couldn't attack or sink them.
Yeah that's the whole point with this reconnection suggestion i guess. Your ship and treasure stays and you get a time-limited window to reconnect and spawn on your ship again. What happens to your ship in the mean time, well... But atleast you dont instantly lose your efforts to the dreaded Almondbeard.
This is a needed change that has been asked for a long time. I'm surprised it was not added yet.
When I play, the thing that prevents me from hoarding chests is not the fear of being robbed. It's the fear of having a single dc and just losing everything.
They should change it so when you dc, your ship will remain on the server for like 5-10 more minutes. I don't see how this can be abused, since anyone can come and loot it in the meantime.

If you're sailing at the time of d/c, even 5 minutes is a long time to let the ship drift without someone steering it, and it will likely crash and sink before you can return anyway, so maybe a d/c could trigger an automatic anchor drop if the ship is moving.
That being said, I've played regularly since launch day, and have only experienced a hard disconnect one time (I avoided the game for a couple days when the banana patch was causing server instability) sailing with my friend on a duo sloop, and we both disconnected at the same time. It wasn't an internet issue, as we were in a party chat and were still talking after getting d/c'd
