Audio Enhancement: Audible Foot Steps

  • First of all, I love your game, the sole reason I bought an Xbox One X was to get SoT. Casually grinded towards pirate legend, and now impatiently waiting for any new content ~_~

During some E3 interviews, Nate mentioned the idea of crouching which sparked the following game suggestion:

(Xbox Controller, would need PC adjustments)
    Audible Foot Steps:
Walk Slowly/Crouched (directional stick halfway): No Sound
Walk Normal (directional stick maxed): Walking Sound
Sprint (directional stick maxed and sprint active): Running Sound

    Individually Environmental Different Sounds:
    Sand (softer sound)
    Rock (harder sound)
    Wood (hollower/hardwood floor kinda sound)
    Ship Stairs: Fuller/Deeper Step Audio
Top of Ship: Hollower Step Audio
Bottom of Ship: Harder/Fuller Step Audio

There's already support for 3D Audio using headphones, I can hear if the skeletons are above or below me when in forts, or directionally where enemies and animals are.

This would add to the ship mechanics the most. Rather than just having a stowaway or enemy running around without any audio to give them away. We can now hear where the running is occurring. Imagine being in the bottom level or middle level of a galleon and hearing frantic running footsteps above you, and then you hear one of the foot steps getting deeper, you would know their either taking the stairs to the helm or stairs to the middle deck and you can plan your path course better for combat. Or imagine if you and your crew are hanging around on the top deck or near the helm, and you hear foot steps coming from the captains quarters or under the ship and you damn well know everyone from your crew is standing right next to you... you have a stowaway/enemy on board!

The visuals and audio in this game is already amazing, lets pump up the foot step audio enrichment a notch as well!
