So in thinking about what I might want to see added to Sea of Thieves in the future. I think the number one outside the box feature I would love to have is a gamemode much like the one in Grand Theft Auto called Rockstar Editor.
Rare has created this gorgeous world, and the game already feels right for streamers and content creators to build upon the in-game lore and visuals. I want to see this taken one step further with the ability to stage scenes with world item placements and to control camera angle and path to create stunning and dramatic movie like cinematography. All while in a safe solo environment. Just think how much content this would lead to as we already have a whole bunch of creative pirates doing it to the best of the games extent right now...take a look at the awesome videos Captain Falcore and @Sneakler do already just to site a couple of examples.
SoT Editor
@marsmayflower What's Falcore's name in the threads? I can edit the OP to tag him if you know it off hand?
@nwo-malice Malice editor isn't a gameplay mode. I agree that there shouldn't be safe zones or modes within the main game. Think of the editor as a movie maker software or as a child playing with "digital" action figures if you will...you place these skelly's here and a couple ships here...and the camera over there...then you press "play and record" the little mini movie you've created. Nothing you did within editior would equate to any type of progression or reward. It's simply a tool that allows content creators the ability to roleplay visually within the Sea of Thieves world to help them create a vision they have in their head and show it to their viewers.
@nwo-malice I think you misunderstand. I am not talking about a PvE mode. I'm talking about private lobbies for your own custom matches with friends. No AI. No progression. No loot. Just your friends, ships and ship resources. 16 galleons going at it. epic.
@bo05ter I understand what you mean but a private match mode would only expand the player base, not hurt it.

Uhm, you mean like Warcraft 3, when the servers were full of players, but all played DOTA and nobody actually played the vanilla game?
No thx.
@longingfern4785 if you want to do weeklys, kill sharks, get gold, buy sails, sit in chairs, meet randoms, raid forts, do quests, or see new dlc content, ya gotta log on to open. if you wanna have epic sea battles with 15 of your friends, start a private match. that would seriously bring in some streamer and youtube content creators.

No safe mode. At all. Ever. Period. For any reason.
hello mcfly you do understand hes talking about a machinima mode not a game mode right? Or is the word safe mode just triggering your forum tourettes
@iamwilliamb Oh yee of little faith! First, this isn't something I think needs to be high priority, just something on my dream list for the future. Second, I'm confident that @Rare-Ltd has both the talent and resources to match R* on all levels, and they certainly have something R* could never dream of pulling off...a real connection to their gamer-base. R* built a very ambitions and amazing game in GTA...but they could care less about improving quality or player expirience. they are soley driven but what's going to make the most money. Rare in contrast does this incredible thing called engaging thair audience and listening then apply real solutions to make this the best game they can!

Other games with way better creative teams had the same problem like HALO and forge editor.
You must not have a very high opinion of @Rare-Ltd I’d put them up against any other studio in a second. They are more than qualified and capable of matching the best of what other studios have done.
@bo05ter They've had years to make a game thats mostly water and a boat and they still couldnt get out all the bugs before launch.
@bo05ter I do agree the rare dev team is capable to do great things I am just waiting to see them I guess. I love playing this game but absolutely hate the griefing/lack of communication.
@bo05ter As the game currently stands, I'd say yes. I have edited game maps, cars and tracing tracks for over twenty years. I love doing it.
However, with rare slowly adding new content over a long period of time (possibly years) it will only lead to conflicts.
What if the editor was already introduced before the megalodon's set path and somebody dropped a new island there? It just wouldn't work for the better part.@admiral-rrrsole I don’t care so much about editing the world, just being able to create videos using a free roaming camera and place able items. For example spawn Galleon just outside shipwreck isle. Then Spawn kraken attack same location, move camera to overhead record, and the “play” or put the world in motion...
@bo05ter I try to. I have backed and defended this game. I got 2 PC friends to buy it, 2 other friends to get xbox one x's and 5 more to get game pass to play with me.
So, you want to take all the hard work Rare has done and not play the game?
And you want Rare to create the software as well?Pretty sure Rare loves all the SoT content creators, although I'd assume they'd want you to make all the content in-game.
Otherwise you could upstage any "Merrick" type content videos.
