  • @capnroguebeard I think the last video update said they were pulling Meg for a while, and that was just a few days ago.

@capnroguebeard I think the last video update said they were pulling Meg for a while, and that was just a few days ago.

It's on the status page, so it looks like that while is over https://www.seaofthieves.com/status

  • @fantome-of-blue They pulled Megan, Merrick's megalodon for the ending of The Hundering Deep 2week campaign event. They are RE-INTRODUCING multiple megalodons into the Sea of Thieves with tomorrow's update (wednesday, June 20th), It is CONFIRMED on the status page.

  • Also, they never... ever intended on pulling The Hungering Deep out of game. It all was just part of the event schedule.

  • Woohoo! Hopefully they will range in color and attach style. I would imagine that they are not as hard since you will probably encounter them while sailing without multiple crews

  • Hopefully a gold drop is introduced so that crew members get a 500-1000g drop upon defeating an emergent threat - Kraken, Megalodon, etc

No further quests, no chasing loot or double cross - just drop the gold.

  • @baconwrappedsac I do hope that it drops an Item that you have to turn in for Gold & Doubloons, or just Gold. Part of the excitement with Sea of Thieves is what you loot can be stolen before you get to an Outpost.

What about a "Hunting Faction" along with maybe some surprises in the update like other Monsters or Beasts? Does everyone think they might start going all out on these updates? It feels like it is really starting to ramp up! SoT will only get better.

  • @baconwrappedsac Yes, would be nice, upon killing said monster you get gold like you would had you turned in chest or skull. Everyone who did damage gets some gold. 1250 -1500 sounds like a fair amount as well.

And would someone get that damn kraken a body! Lol!

  • @dumbdrunkpirate Absolutely, would be great to have a redesigned kraken worthy of being a mythical terror of the seas!

Ah, I see. I guess I don't keep up with SOT stuff like I should. Thanks for the update :)

  • @fantome-of-blue No problem. Im looking forward to see what they are adding for us.

  • Old news.... ;) But excited!!!

  • @capnroguebeard I can agree on a cash-in item - but think of what happens when you have multiple crews after the same - bloodbath and cat and mouse.

While all-together fun and within the games’ space - it can lead to some drawn out back and forth... so I think the blanket approach of a gold drop is acceptable.

Now the “Hunting Faction” I can get behind and I do see them doing this - more scars and commendations for success alone or in groups... more reasons to replay, more reasons to group up, more reasons to hunt.

Just imagine a new contract - “Find and slay 2 black and 1 purple megalodon - by a certain time & turn in your collected sharks teeth at outpost xyz”

  • @capnroguebeard Range? That has me intrigued

  • @mad-jack-ketch HAHA! I know it's a bit old, but conisdering how misinformed the majority are I thought I would put it out there and get everyone hyped up for tomorrow's update.

  • Servers are about to go down in 25 min.

  • Wonder if the Kraken AND a Meg can attack at the same time :)

  • @capnroguebeard I post this stuff myself primetime. I make sure most gets the info

  • No way will a cash in item be dropped, just like the kraken, why would it? It's a random sea creature so why would it contain a live chicken or some s&*t

  • Anyone knows if meg will atack sloops or only the galeon like the kraken?

  • This part here got me(reintroduce a range of fearsome Megalodons back into the seas!)
Wonder if that means just recolor's or if they may all act different or give different types of rep? Like a gold one for GH rep and a skeleton one for SoO? I am probably hoping for too much but who knows!?

  • Karen the Kraken has been talked about and agreed that it needs reworked, the RARE team have definitely heard our voices on that matter. I do not think that they would make it rewardless. I also belive they will eventually do something with the kraken, since this is a player shaped and formed game from the begining, they will listen to thier pirates. :)

  • I haven't seen a Kraken in like a month. I began to think that they had been removed for some time

  • I think the Megalodon should also still be summoned by the drum.
I think the Kraken should also be summoned by a flute or something.
As well as the beasts being summoned by their respective tunes, on hearing the other tune, it gets them all agitated.
You'll have some crews summoning one beast, some the other beast.
End result you get a big beast battle as they fight each other and those that possess their irritable tunes.

  • @nanatyl5d I was just sailing on my own on a sloop and was attacked so yes they will attack anything.

  • @captainnscurvy they're still around I watched a galleon get attacked last night.

  • Me and my friend on the sloop got attacked by it so yeah they do finally something for the sloop to worry about now yay.

  • megalodons do in fact attack sloops. I saw one (heard more like) swim by me at cannon cove and then it swam right under my sloop at keel haul just before it took a bite out of the stern of another sloop. It was a really cool experience, just having monsters roaming around randomly. Don't dip your toes in the water!
