Singleplayer Mode

  • I would really like it if there was a singleplayer mode added into sea of thieves. As the name suggests, when you enter this game mode, you can invite friends to join your crew and then you will play sea of thieves in a server that is entirely your own, there is not a single other actual person in this server unless you invite them to your crew.
The main reason that I would want to do this is that I want to be able to admire the beauty and fun of sea of thieves without having to deal with anyone else's ridiculousness. Only one of my real friends has this game and he can't play that often with me so I usually play by myself. That is already kind of boring, but what makes it even more boring and annoying is when I am on a voyage, and I just got some really cool stuff and than I am super paranoid that some 4 crew galleon is going to show up, kill me and take my
hard-earned treasure. I get that this is a pirate game, and pirates steal from each other, but I would like it if you were actually given the choice to choose whether you wanted to play against other people and do some PvP stuff, or if you are like me, a person who plays sea of thieves just for fun, and can only usually play alone. A singleplayer mode would just be so much more fun for me and my friend to play and I know a few other of my friends who aren't close at all who would also really like this feature.
And don't be like "You should just get better at the game" Well, again, I play sea of thieves for FUN, not to grind or to kill other people for no reason even if they have no treasure or anything. Also it is kinda hard to take on a 4 person crew when the guns only have five shots and a single shot from any of the guns is not even a fatal blast, even if it is a headshot.
I wouldn't even mind if all the stuff that you do in the single player mode didn't transfer over to the normal mode. Because quite honestly, if they did add a single player mode, I would never go onto a multiplayer server again. I don't want to always be checking for ships in the distance every two seconds. And already so many games have PvP at it's core and PvP just gets so tiring after a while. I bought sea of thieves because I saw that for the most part the game did not rely on PvP and it looked like a cool game.
Please, someone at Rare please read this. A singleplayer mode would not be that hard to do and it would just make the game so much more enjoyable for people like me.

  • This has been addressed 1000 times, there will be no safe zones or private servers. Bottom line.

  • @simplybutta yea...go search the forums OP about this topic, and all the others, they all get shut down super fast with nos.
the only private server id be on for is rental no progression, so in reality you lose more than you would even earn. but that wont happen and thats at the very very very bottom of my wishlist, i just want cooler cannons.

  • @agentchicken996 Unfortunately if Rare doesn't start adding actual content, Sea of Thieves might very well turn into a single player server game.

  • @betsill I... would, kinda like that....

But without the threat of some one stealing ur stuff, without having to make sure no ones coming and having ur head on a swivel, without the stories of “these guys came and we sunk them!” What would u have? U would have a delivery service game with out any risk. Becoming a Pirate Legend that has never experienced an oncoming ship would be fake and too easy. There would be no feeling of accomplishment.

  • @simplybutta That's not what I'm saying, I am saying that there should be a whole separate mode that is just for single player. Like after you get into the game there would be screen before the Galleon or Sloop screen that would let you choose single player or multiplayer a.k.a the normal game as it is right now.

  • @agentchicken996 it's not gonna happen. A lot of things in-game are handled on the server side. So you'd need to create an instance for every single ship. Server load would be much bigger than it is now. Not only is it against the whole "shared world" idea, this game represents. But it's also not a smart thing financially. It would increase the cost of servicing the game with almost no benefits.

  • Single Player Mode is Ok way better than PvE Mode!

    Single Player: 1
    PvE Mode: 0

  • @simplybutta If enough people ask for it Rare will give a single player server. So don.t say never.

  • the last couple days have felt that way. happened again today where i saw one ship in the morning and then nothing else all day. i did a solo fort capture which takes forever, but man, for the sake of levelin up, its awesome.

but to your point the game wouldn't be the same game if you never saw anyone. fuel the paranoia, build your style of tactics and game play. you get to make it whatever you want it to be. people typically only want safe zones because they want to be able to keep the loot they worked for, of course we do! gotta be able to roll with the waves and go where the wind blows, which may be to a galleon looking for an easy mark.
