I'm really excited to see the 3 Player Ship "Brigantine" be introduced in the upcoming Cursed Sails expansion. For those of you curious about what it will look like, I've refined the silhouette from the trailer.
What do you think the lower decks will look like? Do you think there will be a half deck captains quarters like the sloop?

@shoothere4exp I'm very interested in seeing more about this ship too! It seems so flat on the top so I guess the helm will be harder to use? I'm curious where they will spread things out and what will be special about it that makes it 3 man specific. Can't wait to see it. I feel like it will be my main ship when its out as I generally play with one to two friends so I wouldn't mind starting one up with just another friend and seeing if someone joins.

Hm. I don't mean to nitpick because obviously it's open to interpretation but from the trailer, I always thought it looked like there was only one sail on the foremast. But that could well be my eyes.
Though, I have to say this does look fantastic and I cannot wait to see how this thing does on the seas!

I'm really looking forward to the Brigantine myself, it should suit my husband and I so well! We mainly duo sloop, but he's so good with sailing it on his own that there's little for me to do on the waters. This should make things more interesting!
Exactly the same with my Fiancée and I. This just might be the ship for experienced couples!

This was my first thought as well. IDK what's up with the p**p deck though. Hopefully it's only the angle of the ship in the trailer because I feel like it should be raised.

I suppose only time will tell, but it sure looks an odd shape. I don't know truly what to expect since it appears so level, which would make it the first level ship. Even the Sloop had a raised helm. So it looks like it might be straying from a fee design conventions! Which leads me to excitement to see what it'll be like!
@carcinogenetxc @xCALYPT0x I was wondering why there was only sail on the front mast too, but looking closer it definitely looks like there is a beam for it and space to boot. My guess was it was just artistic license from the trailer... but then again maybe this isn't an accurate model to the final ship especially considering other design oddities.
Personally I like the low profile, it makes it look slim and fast. When I modeled my Brig I had more height especially at the captains quarters, so I am curious how they are resolving the decks on this one. My guess is there is either one big deck below or two half decks like the sloop, or even a full bottom deck and then a half deck under the wheel.
Although I’m very excited to see this new ship, I’m disappointed that neither the Sloop nor the Brigantine use the gaf/jib/Bermuda rigs they were know for and only have square rigs.
I’m guessing that since Rare threw together the Sloop so quickly, they reused the existing assets in modeling to save time, and plan to do so for the Brigantine as well. Since their capstan is also inaccurate, maybe they’ve never seen s real ship or don’t care about accuracy in certain areas.
@itsporkchopfu If you look at the existing Galleon and Sloop models its clear that accuracy isn't what they are going for. Everything is a simplification or an abstraction of the real inspiration.
I'm sorry to break it to you but if you're looking for realism you're barking up the wrong tree in this game... I think what you can hope for though is Ship Customization in the future where you could equip sails of different stats... I doubt they would be historically accurate but I bet you could find something similar.
Perhaps sail customization will be part of the "rhymes with Fall Snails" update

On the subject of the Sails though. I see 3 sails in the trailer but there does indeed seem room for another and what could possibly be a 2nd boom on the foremast.
Could it be that the ship was hit with a "Cursed Cannonball" causing it to only show 3 of the 4 sails down??
This was how i saw it at any rate.
Be awesome to be sailing it when it is added though either way.
@shoothere4exp Good job reworking that image. It is strange though, the way Rare has put together the Brigantine. They’ve got one sail and the crow’s nest on the foremast and two sails on the rear mast. But in reality, that’s reversed (with the addition of a triangle gaff sail on the main mast.) It just looks weird, the way they’ve set it up.
Reminds me of the guy who recreated Stormbringer from Avengers, but got the head of the axe reversed. He was so proud, it was almost painful to tell him he got it wrong.
@lifewcoke I like that idea and come to think of it, why isn't there sloop wrecks? It would be fun to see more variety beneath the waves!
@lonewolfxuz I completely agree! I can see this just being the standard without a full crew. Meaning, even if we are two manning, a competent duo should be able to take advantage of the brigantine with great effectiveness. (two manning a sloop is too easy/boring) I seriously cant wait....here's to hoping for an early July release!
I believe the reason there is no sloops is simply because the galleon bigger and can swim more (hold more loot also) I feel it wasn't introduced for this reason, but I have also said the other night to pals this is odd not to see.
I cant wait to see this new ship on the seas, I hope it just as fun to play
Personally I think the crows nest should be on top of the back mast but that's just me but what I do think is it should have 3 cannons on each side mainly because since its a bigger target then the sloop it will be easily hit by the galleon so it's gonna need the extra damage output to balance the amount of damage it can take from galleon to the offensive damage it can give, because it's probably lower than the galleon giving galleon easy shots to the deck knocking the 2 gunners off so it really does need 3 cannons unless it is meant to be the fastest ship in the game giving it the option to outplay the galleon than 2 cannons on each side might be find.
