I can't belive that I search for 3 hours now for an another crew and only find people who are do nothing just want to sink another ship. Even if I kindly ask them that I want to do the event. Thanks for the waste of my afternoon.
It's a waste of time!!

@lordzorddan I want to correct myself, 5 hours.... I'M Here for 5 hours
You're clearly not trying hard enough /s
Seriously though, before the defenders of the co-op missions arrive- this will CONTINUE to be an issue for all events designed with this multi crew bottleneck in mind. The majority of the playerbase is rushing to get these things done the first day because they know as time progresses the chances of getting on the same server with anyone willing to go through the motions of completing these events becomes lower and lower.
Make quests HARD to do with a solo crew if that's what your goal is. Don't make it programmed to require it. Your game isn't designed to facilitate this and allow everyone the same enjoyment with the quests.
@el-dunco unlike dislex, this is helpful. I am solo slooper and if anyone asked me I would help. It is so true that duo sloops are bullies and galleons have their agenda!
@lordzorddan I'd recommend just keeping at it and be aware of what time you're looking. There are times that very few (and even fewer friendlys) will be online
@bathrobe-dave Totally right
The worst part is that I didn't see a YouTube video today, I didn't even know that there is an event....@dislex-fx said in It's a waste of time!!:
You should really learn how to play and communicate.
You should learn to contribute to discussion in a meaningful manner. This is a very real issue with the multi crew requirement. At least this time you don't need to stock a ship for your end goal so you have a little more freedom to server hop, but that doesn't make it any less difficult to find people willing to take several hours out of their gaming time to try and stick the landing at 5 locations across the map FOR NO PERSONAL GAIN.
This event could have been just as much fun with solo crews and meeting people along the way trying to do the same thrones, but no- you have a LOT of the playerbase, more each day getting more and more frustrated that they're spending several hours over multiple nights having no luck running into the right kind of crew willing to do that for them.
There is no FUN in artificially making a quest longer by having this multi crew search built into the requirements.

Don't stay on one server for hours on end looking for someone. Hop around a little. Try bribing a crew with treasure. In other words, be a little more active about it.
I think that suggestion, shows that the dev's have some work to do on how grouping is handled during events.

You're better off running into a solo-slooper to ask. Galleons usually have an agenda and duo-sloopers are either bullies or busy.
^ spot on.
When I duo it my only agenda is to sink others. When I solo it I’m down to sink anyone but I also am usually up for anything

Indeed- they should add logic to either be able to group with other crew's servers through LFG- or for crews with individuals that have not completed the event to spawn into servers with only other crews that have members that haven't completed the event.
@bathrobe-dave There should be an ally system in the game where you can build a fleet together, (same fleet shares voyages, have blue names) maybe than there's would be more friendly people in the game. (and it would be the key for leveling up because you can do 2-3 voyages at the same time...

The concern with that is it being abused to dominate a server with PVP. That's why I suggested the secondary option of the game auto matching a new ship with people who haven't completed the quest to servers with only other crews that haven't completed the quest. Unlike the "PVE" server idea, PVP is still open and able- but your likelihood of finding other people who would want to do the quest is much higher.
Right now the game just plops you in and everyone else on the server could be looking to kill you.

But right now the only thing why people don't really want to team up because they didn't get anything from it.

Problem wit' this is what would it do if ye have a duo sloop an' one has done it an' one has not? Which is what happened wit' me. Friend joins me so I can run him through the locations... do we get put on a server wit' the haves or the have nots?
I think it be fine. I did some on night one, picked up the other's o'er the weekend wit' me crewmate. Aye ye can have unlucky sessions, but it be possible.
An' there always be pirates like me who be happy to lend ye a hand if ye catch me solo an' ask nice. No need for treasure as a reward, just be polite an' I'll see ye through it.
@lordzorddan I'll keep me good eye on the seas for ye later if yer still at it. Wit' a bit o' luck I'll land on yer server. Long shot, but perhaps Triton will smile upon ye.
any ability to build a multi crew outside of the server or to bring friends to a server destroys the whole concept of meeting stranger sin game to tackle the concern at hand let alone allows for groups of players to dominate server...create friends only servers...or otherwise destroy the purpose of a shared world / social game with developers who want for everyone to actually have to put up with each other.
I have yet to read an idea that provides an easier path to finding crews to help with multi crew content that actually works.
The closest I've read so far is the idea of an in game message board which might be located on a specific outpost which could serve as a looking for group post. Sure, pirates can still lie, forget about, or change their minds and it could be used as a tool to lure players to their deaths... but imagine a post it board in the taverns where LFG could be shared and be server specific with a time stamp. At the very least, if actually used.... it would allow players to hop on a server and see if anyone is currently looking for the content to be explored... or post the request yourself allowing players to sail around doing what they'd normally do.. UNTIL they get a response and form up.
If not that.. maybe a new island in the center of the map which contains more reasons to stop there such as having a mega mall of sorts with more item variety that any given single shop would.. or being the only access point for certain voyages... or something like that..
Sure, it could be camped... it could be just as open and unprotected and potentially exploited as any island in game could... but if players are given a reason to stop there more often, and exclusively there, simply bumping in to players and thereby having a chance to ask for the help would make things easier...
I've sailed around forever just trying to find other ships in general! I can't remember the last time I've server migrated and yet still spend whole evenings apparently alone on the server... I almost wonder if migration is broke?
Also increasing server capacity and map size would go a long way... it's a pity SoT isn't procedurally generated with a really high upper limit of players on a global server set up.
But even these ideas I present are flawed.
Suffice to say. I'm all for multi crew content...
But we do lack a means to actually find players and explore the content beyond server hopping and luck, and to me .... that's bad.
I'm not going to bother trying anymore it really stresses me out. If Rare are going to continue pushing enemy participation for pointless tasks like this I don't imagine I'll be sticking around much longer.
It worked with meg. It doesn't work with this there is no reason we should have to team up to sit on a bloody chair.
@scrubber89 I don't know if I can write down here but this is the same reason why fallout 76 is going to fail
Already done this event 3 times now.
The first was on patch release day, me and my friend on a Sloop.
We had just dropped off some Fort loot, and we spotted a Galleon in the distance in the direction of the outpost we were on. Naturally this was the first day of the event, so we thought their intentions were the same as our; getting help with the Large Thrones. We were right and completed the event in a few hours. The second time, was yesterday - i was sailing with another friend on the Sloop, and he haven't had the chance to complete it yet - we sailed around voyaging and did the usually Fort in the session. This was around a few hours of gameplay. We stumpled upon a random Sloop which tried to shoot us a few times on sight, but we asked them nicely if they needed the Large Thrones or if they wanted to be sunk. They decided to team up with us, and we completed the Thrones in a few hours.
The third time were today. I was actually playing solo for a few hours, doing a Fort and farming my Merchant Alliance. My missus jumped in mid-session for some easy reputation that i had farmed, and at Plunder Outpost when we were cashing-in, a wild but neutral spaniol suddenly standed on the Pier (without a ship?), asking something in spain. I replied in english, and to my surprise he then asked (in english) if we could help him with the Large Thrones. A few hours later, the spaniol and my missus had the event completed.
Just saying, it's quite possible.
@awesomecoreusa If anyone on your crew does not have the event fully completed, it should match you into a server with other crews that have individuals that don't have it completed.
@bathrobe-dave fair 'nough. So if any member o' the crew hasn't complete the event ye go to a server wit' others who have no done it, that be what I'm getting. So now... Scenario:
I join a galleon crew, 3 of them have completed the event an' I have not. We get put to a server where people have not completed the event. But we now have an imbalance, 3 times as many people on the galleon have completed the content. As ships leave an' join ye could have a server where three quarters have completed the event but it still be flagging as a 'have not' server.
Additionally, what if he have not done the event but don't want to. Now ye be getting hassled by players all the time who think that you, like them, are there to do the event.
It be a noble attempt to solve the issue that some be havin', but it seems like this either wouldn't work or would cause new issues.
I feel a simpler solution would be to offer a continuous reward for repeat play. For the thrones perhaps a little rep wit' the OoS or a little gold (for Legends who don't care 'bout rep), but each throne has an hour cooldown so ye can't spam them for gain.
