Finding other crews for Skeleton Thrones

  • We've spent a good 5 hours tonight trying to find someone, anyone, to help with the other thrones. I guess if you didn't do it the first night you are out of luck? The seas are so sparse and if we do find another crew they aren't interested because they are already done. Any ideas?

The best thing to do is probably switch servers and look for new people that way. Sometimes I have players approach me on the ship and they ask me if I'll help. I still have two more large thrones to sit in. Eventually I'm going to just switch servers and approach ships until I find someone to help me finish them. lol, it's dangerous but hey it could work!

  • I think the best place to look for other crews to do the co-op group Thrones is to go to PLUNDER OUTPOST.

I hope to finish my group thrones in the next couple days, but man they need to change the way this is done. I am all for group play, but there needs to be a more announced location which is advertised in game on where to meet up. It was brutal finding people to do Meg in the last few days of that event. If you don't do it in the first day, it becomes more annoying than fun. Which is not it's intention.

  • Try bribing with treasure.

  • during the hungering deep me and my crew met a player that was waiting on the ferry of the dammed for players to spawn in so he could ask them for help. maybe you should try this? as it will allow you to get closer to players without getting cannons fired at you. and you don't have to scout and chase ships down.

  • If they are going to insist on adding thin slices of content that take you days to do them simply because they are forcing you to work with other crews, then they should at least provide a global chat option so that you can at least canvass anyone else on the server without wasting an hour looking for them.
We have been sitting on Marauders arch throne for 90- minutes - guns pre-aimed ready for other crew, while our crewmate sits on the ferry of the damned asking peeps to help all the while at least 8 people are server hopping trying to find our man. In that time, people are being forced to watch other games on you tube whilst playing their AAA £50 game. how the hell is that positive content?

30 minutes content that takes a week due to silly mechanics is not justification to sit at E3 all smug saying how theyre forcing people to work together and what a great job theyre doing.

It's so true, I am the biggest supporter of this game and never get triggered by anyone ganking me at an outpost or any sort of game-play shenanigans... But having to rely on luck in finding others on a random server in which the odds decrease as the hours and days pass by, Makes me more SALTY and MAD about the game more than anything.

    It needs to be addressed.

While it's great WHEN you connect with another crew, the getting there pretty much ruins it so ... it's quite annoying.

  • @d1no I feel exactly the same way. We've been parked at a throne for the past 2 hours, just watching movies and sitting idle. This isn't how we would normally want to spend our game playing time. The entire random nature of it and how punishing it is for those of us who weren't on Friday is really frustrating.

  • Yeah, I gave up. Can't for the life of me find people doing it, spent all day looking.

[mod edited] whichever [mod edited] decided to force the multi crew [mod edited].

  • Go to a location with two thrones, Marauder's Arch is a very difficult one, so perhaps there are still pirates trying to do it.

I did this one and Plunder's Outpost the same way, I was alone, got into the throne and waited some minutes, other players appeared. I used text chat too, I don't know if they can read it when they are far away, though.

  • @kelraz My advice is either to put 1 person at plunder, 1 on the ferry, and 2 sailing around to try and find someone or everybody load in to a separate galleon private crew and seek out boats and then join on the first person that finds someone.

    ——————-
I might kill you and take it anyway just for attempting to buy me off.
The “treasure” in SoT is garbage anyway. Definitely not worth the time investment. It’s honestly slightly insulting.
Treasure? No. We want your ship.

So you’ll need an open crew slot. Our crew expect you to leave our new ship when you have completed your task unless you fit in with our intrepid band of murdermonkeys. Then welcome aboard the fleet.

I finished all the multicrew stuff not even intending to. Just playing and coming across people who actually bothered to communicate.

  • My gf and I have wasted 5 hours camping, chasing, bribing, chilling, ferry of the dead campaigning.. For 2 minutes of actual content.. Zero large thrones completed.. I’ve ben playing this game since day one. Almost lost the desire to play at all. There’s definitely some senseless game decisions happening with game just because rare has a “vision”. Parts of the vision are great but there is NO way that they drank enough of their own kool aid to actually believe they have done a good job. There HAVE to be rare employees that knew from the this was going to be inadequate.

Force people to work together with zero way to actually work together besides chance encounters. We can’t even communicate with ships on the same server unless you are right on top of them.

They sure have time to make political statements though.

  • @murkedymurk

Don’t forget the skimpy server populations which are mostly empty during the times I usually play.

  • If you have a two person crew, try bribing someone for their boat instead of services (one on your crew join theirs then y'all go do the thrones). I'd give up my boat for a captain chest and above and im 35+ in everything.

No skin off my back, its just a boat and just some loot.

  • Happy to help out with the Thrones :)

Still need to do most of the multi ones anyway.

  • I too wasted hours today trying to do the large thrones.

99% of the time there was no one to be found.
1% of the time they were trolls looking to spoil the fun. Sinking my ship. It made me so angry how they constantly and proudly did so. Thanks Rare for the Megaphone, it's as good as nothing. Not a single person has spoken back to me with it, nor typed in the chat.

RARE WAKE UP! THIS IS KILLING YOUR GAME. I too have been playing since day one, I purchased both signed books, coins, featured the game in countless videos and live streams on YouTube & Twitch and was proud to do so because I loved this game... up until the DLC's came out. This promise of content is a veiled lie. A 2 week event that is more or less undoable after the first 48 hours.

We are people with lives, jobs, commitments. It's disgusting and insulting to expect a player to literally sit for hours waiting of the whim that someone MIGHT come along. BEFORE WE CAN ACTUALLY START TO ATTEMPT THE EVENT. And that's just 1 OF THE 5 LARGE THRONES!

It makes it even more insulting how smug you all are about it, celebrating how brilliant it has been going, we saw this exact same issue happen with MEG and you've made zero effort to try and make sure things would be better this time. Your Twitter account ignoring tweets of complaint but embracing anything positive.

This may all seem over the top but I'm just so furious about this It's truly making me hate the game. How on earth did you ever think this would help the games Content issue by holding the extra content ransom to RNG.

    Please fix this!

    Solutions.
    • World Chat
    • Looking For Group System
    • Remove Multi-Crew requirement
    • Swap Server Button (so we can go to location, then cycle servers at that exact spot until we find others waiting
    • A single "World Event Safe Zone" where Pirates go to meet others looking to take part in the current world event.

And sorry to keep on but how on earth you didn't see this issue ahead of time and come up with solutions before the fact is highly questionable.

Yep. I was a big supporter but the whole MultiCrew Throne thing has made me feel very bitter about it . The amount of hours we've spent waiting, searching, asking, server hopping is an absolute joke. I've stopped playing SoT because of this and moved on to God of War.
They need to add a global chat where you can communicate with everybody in the server or come up with a decent alternative to help get things done. Until this day I'm done with SoT.

  • Just want to add my feedback to the list in the hopes the developers listen...

I love the game, however the more stuff I hear in the videos 'so you have to play with other crews more' the worse and unfun the game gets for me.

If most of the new content will force you to play together you really need a 'city island hub' with fun things to do like mini games and where people can gather together, chat and team up in a non combat zone like the ferry of the dead.

Also when crews team up you should be able to be linked through the menu system. When we where fighting against the beast I joined another gallon and got shot by mistake and respawned on a new boat very far away and gave up. If you are being linked to the crew and boat such stupid things like this cannot happen and ruin your whole journey.

It is all good making content that require people to play together but you need to have the grouping/lobby tools first. And no that micro-thingy is not enough.

  • I can vouch for jumping servers until you find someone. If there was a rush to get them done as soon as they came out, there's going to be a rush to get them done before they're gone, too!

I only had to switch servers once before I found someone - just sail for Plunder Outpost and talk to any ships on the way. If no one's around, jump to a new server and repeat!

It took us about an hour or so to get all five large thrones!

(And I agree that jumping servers isn't something we should have to do!)

    Good luck!

  • I managed to find a sloop while going solo a week or so into the event. Started at Plunder, then basically sailed around looking for people. One galleon completely ignored me, let me walk around on their deck and everything. Did the “we’re friendly let’s sail together” all the way in. Messaged the first sloop after they sank me (since no one is in game chat) said didn’t want to do it because not worth the effort. Second sloop accepted the chat invite and we did them all. Felt decently lucky. Last night at Plunder after spawn someone sailed up and we did that one with them just to be nice. Glad it didn’t take 5 hours to find a friendly!

  • @Spammals Completely agree. They could actually get the community aspect working so well just with a simple solution. For example, we could have a larger global tavern (a lobby) where you can meet other crews and agree a "parlay" to do an event. Then crews are put on the same world instance and the parlay is in effect until either the mission is completed or until a crew decides to end it by going back to the global tavern. Thus stopping people just agreeing a parlay and then turning it off and killing each other. Also it would allow people to meet others that are talking but still allow people who just want to sail around doing PvE.

  • It's refreshing to see many others having the same issues and sharing the same frustration. And @HighLordSaber hearing how the pirate walked up to you sat on the throne and decided to kill you rather than sit with you, after waiting 2 hours already. I would have raged so bad, that's exactly the type of thing that will make people quit this game.

The devs extremely briefly spoke about this in the latest update video and if i remember correctly said about a world chat feature. But I wouldnt hold out on that coming any time soon.

I love the Parlay idea @Pezer, very pirate and exactly what needs to happen. We have taverns all over the map but they're always empty. To have this 1 mega tavern specifically for organizing a Parlay is 10000% what needs to happen. Or even better, just remove the multi-crew mechanic as it's utterly stupid. It's like a parent telling their kids "You will play with the others and you will enjoy joy it or no dinner!
