This game is not SEA OF FRIENDS.

  • Rare, If you want players to come together then don't force them to.

I really hate how you need to have another crew with you to complete the thrones.

(Good job on forcing us to be friends with someone yet again rare to complete something)

I would hate it if I can't finish it because no one will help me do them, I don't see anyone doing these thrones or I'm just unlucky.

RARE, IF You want crews to come together, Don't force US TO.

This is sea of thieves not sea of friends.

I really hope future weekly challenges won't be like this. Make another game or make a pve server if you want us to make friends.

    This is getting rediculous rare.

  • It is just a weekly event. Not to be confused with the end of the world.

All you have to do is temporarily COOPERATE and TOLERATE other players until you are finished. Also known as "not the end of the world"

Everything is going to be okay.

  • There is nothing wrong with this. How preposterous, now you can't Kill on sight!

It's not Sea of Friends, but it doesn't need to be neither...Sea of Sociopaths.

  • God forbid u find someone cool to add to ur friends list 😱

  • @theunknownd don't look for people actively doing them. approach and use your trumpet to ask if they WANT to. I'd bet a lot of people don't even know anything about it. in fact, last night, my friend needed the team ones done and we chased down a sloop crew who'd just gotten the game that night and were playing for the first time. we made sure to give them all the treasure we found and that their first experience was a blast. another night, another few friends added ❤

That is awesome! Glad to hear that. :D Sounds like an amazing adventure!

Having the same problem as you

  • I wonder if it will be the case of don't do the events within the 1st or 2nd day pirates are less likely to help.

Just been at Shipwreck bay, asked a pirate to help but they had done it already (they even came to the island twice). Would have taken 20secs. oh well

  • That's weird, because I've actually approached a sloop doing a Skull and ASKED them if they WANTED to do the Thrones, they said yes and then I volunteered to help them with the Skull Fort. In the end we became friends and now we play together.

"Forcing" players to work together with different crews is awesome and should stay in the game, if not enhanced really. Of course sometimes things goes south but that's the fun part, you never know what you'll get.

    Exactly!

  • So much mental gymnastics in this thread. Actually, this entire forum in general. It's like watching the most obscure places on tumblr.

I just spent 4 hours doing this. Came across many crews both galleon and sloop. With the exception of 2 of them, they were all hostile. Not a single one could hear me over the Trumpet. I even tried bribes. I had a couple captain's chests, a marauder's, a seafarer, an exotic spices crate, a hateful skull, and a couple foul (all from shipwrecks). Couldn't even pay someone to do it. Virtually all of them had Master Throne Hunter titles - is that only available at the end?

I ended up in some good PvP scraps, which was fun, I guess, but I was hoping to finish the event.

It is and was always a solid state in many other games ( like in plenty of mmorpgs too ) that if you wanna make a raid or a event that you have to build up groups together with other players.

I see nothing wrong in it. It's a old gaming concept . It's about socialising . That happens also in teamplay shooter , because thats the part of the normal content there.

I really hate how you need to have another crew with you to complete the thrones.I would hate it if I can't finish it because no one will help me do them, I don't see anyone doing these thrones or I'm just unlucky.

About the skelleton throne event : There are 5 skelleton thrones for single players . If a single player find them and sit on them then he get rewarded and can at last get the new outfit and a new title.

This is sea of thieves not sea of friends.
There are players , they like to see "sea of thieves" as game for lunatic kill on sight killers and they claim and call it as die hard pvp game.

But that's not RAREs sight of the view and if RARE have the vision to make this game to "sea of friends" then it's the right of them.

  • @theunknownd I'm sorry that these events are included to remind some that it's not strictly a PvP game. In fact everything in the game is made with PvE in mind. Only the weapons are universal and the mindset of some are strictly PvP.

It's strange to hear this complaint from a founder of the game but you do have a choice to play in your typical aggressive fashion. You don't need to do these silly multi crew events.
It is totally up to you if you think that the rewards are worth a little of your time spent acting like a human being or not. Nobody is forcing you.
Granted, so far the rewards have been rather sad and this highchair challenge is a really dumb waste of time, but I did appreciate the break from the same ol' garbage that the megalodon provided.

So, with a game undeniably focused at PvE, having "positive social interaction" in mind but with opportunity for PvP and officially calling it a PvPvE, the telemetry showed Rare that with the Hungering Deep introduction to Megs, the game's player base only declined to 50% PvP / 50% PvE.
Joe Neate found it astounding it dropped that far. I find it astounding that a founder of a PvPvE game (3 months after launch) is complaining that it dropped that far.

The information provided is stated at 10:50 of this video.

  • @theunknownd

Of course it's Sea of Friends. Every pirate I meet is my friend.

Like the friend who gave me some of his extra cannonballs. He was in such a hurry to get them to me that he accidently sent them crashing through the walls of my ship.

Or the other friend who helped me carry my treasure. He was so quick that I lost him on the way, but it's the thought that counts.

And of course my friend who must've thought I looked worn out and insisted I take a break. Alas, the poor dear had no microphone and could only convey his idea through sinking my ship.

Thoughtful, true friends through and through.

Ask people to help you. Just because nobody is doing a quest currently, doesn't mean, there is nobody there to help you.

  • Some Pirates formed alliances. They pretty much did what they had to in order to be effective and survive. Some collaborated to deal with things other than thievery too and some even had political agendas like only attacking specific ships from countries they thought were enemies of their country.

  • Well I agree with you in some sense, I don't like the trend that you need to team up with other crew to complete a thing.
I'm probably one of the friendly's pirate you can meet on the sea, an have no problem making friends, But I do not want to be "forced" to make friends to complete events.

Let the friendly encounters happen naturally, by put in a treat or something hard that it's easy'er to complete multiple crew, but you can still solo(should be almost impossible solo)

  • Tried again a couple of times. Completing one someone else was waiting for but they also left, guess that completed their list too.

But finally as I was with another crew doing OoS a galleon came up wanting to do the throne that was there and luckily hadn't done any of the others. So I jumped onto their ship and off we went.

I only needed two, now I could have just jumped ship as soon as I got mine but it would be plain mean, so stayed with them till they completed. Amazingly I didn't die or get brigged when my crew left and left our ship somewhere)

I did say remember me and if you see on me on the seas, not to shoot ;)

  • I'm done. Tried to complete the multiple crew thrones several times now. But nobody is helping. Instead people are camping the throne locations and attack and sink everybody on sight. Not to steal my treasure - I had none - just for fun and to pi** people off.

  • Having to group up with another crew to kill a big shark is one thing, having to do it to sit on a throne makes no sense at all.

It's fine if once in a while there are events that requires two crews to come together as long as it makes sense, it's even fun.

But this event is not the kind of event that should require it.

  • @theunknownd Agreed, day two of me not being able to find anyone to do Thrones with. Such a stupid idea on Rare's part.
