Have you ever been in an order of souls mission in like marauder's arch or thieves haven or wanderer's refuge and you just can't find an ammo box to deal with that annoying wave of gold skelletons with guns? Well I don't have a good solution for that, thats why i'm stealing someone else' suggestion of an ammo box you could take with you to islands.
The Compact Ammo Box, or CAB for short, is a new item that you could get from the order of souls ladies (one per crew). Players can vote to remove the box from their crew to get a new one from the order of souls lady with a small cooldown between each disposal, this is useful if your crew loses the box in the world, the CAB also despawns if its original crew leaves the server, this is to decentivise players from trying to steal it to deny players this new mechanic, as the ammo box weilds no cash or xp reward so no real point in having players fight over it.
The CAB functions like a crate, but its functionality is just like the static ammo box, you go up to it and you have the option to either pick it up or refill ammo.
The pros of this item would be less downtime and more consistent combat behaviour from players during pve engagements, allowing for the devs to add more enemies with bigger health pools and allowing player to spring out of swordspam and experiment with weapons in the future.
The cons are that now players could have more ways to spam with guns, namely using the eye of reach for a long time from an advantageous position like the crows nest, currently the EoR is the most powerful weapon in the game at any range, not quite dealing killing blow damage but due to how most players during combat may be at 80% hp or lower it is usually a one shot kill, meaning that the EoR could get an indirect buff from this item existance. Another bad element that may arrive is ammo box conflicts, players that may "troll" their team by mismanaging the item, which could be quite frustrating.
Still, in my opinion the game could have a lot more to gain from having a CAB than not, preferably having a less aggregious time fighting skelletons.
