Ability to join friends with your own ship - a simple answer to needing multiple crews to complete events.

  • With rare obviously going down the "you need more than one crew to complete new content additions" again with the Skeleton Thrones event, and I assume they will do it again for other events/updates, as with the Hungering Deep I assume we are going to see loads of players pleading with others to help them to complete it again a couple days after launch.

We will see the deckhands time and time again having to create threads on the forums asking people to sign up to help those that havnt been able to complete the event all because you cant get someone to come along and help, and then even if you actually know of another crew willing to help you in the real world they cant, why because you have no way of getting friends/volunteers to join you on a server in another ship, you simply have to rely on the luck of the draw of finding someone on a server willing to help!, you could try server hopping to find them but this is a time consuming hit and miss thing (believe me I tried doing this to help my son and his friends, I gave up after 39 server hops sailing to a point and not finding them).

So whats the answer, to me its simple, make it so you can join friends on a server on your own ship, make it so it is limited to a maximum of 2 ships of friends, for example only the initial person starting the ship is the only player that can invite one other player on their own ship, and thats it, that way it will prevent an entire server of friends being able to hog a server and just use it for grinding away (effectively making it a PVE server), this way you really will be able to join a server to help others to complete a voyage/quest that needs 2 crews, you wont have to rely on random encounters, you will also be able to just join in with another ship and start your own small fleet adventures, which I could see leading to much greater depth of gameplay.
    Good idea or not???

Community events should be community events and to team up with strangers is a part of the challenge. Your suggestion is similar as if in a race a participant complains that he has to run and he complains it because he has no time to run but he still wants to win the race . So his solution is that he stay on the start line and that the finish line should move towards to him. So he complains about that a challenge is a challenge and he wanna remove this challenge to be able to win.

So the claim to be able to do everything alone or to be able to do everything only with the family and friends that one knows for a long time that makes the sense of the community events broken.

  • another problem u could build huge alliances,or u do an invite chain so u would have just friends on the server, sure for farming it would not bad;) but thats not whats the game supposed to be

  • @oldrusty-gaming And with that I ask you a question: what about being the only ship alone in a 5 galleon fleet server? Painfully at least... I understand your point, but these events are for the coop between strangers, an if the coop rewars are not too much better than the 1 crew ones, its actually fine that people who can work with strangers could pick a slightly bigger slice of the treasure.

  • I've noticed that if you just play regularly with a galleon (I play for 3 hours every night with friends) you'll get lots of people popping in asking for help with an event. We've sent one of our crew on a galleon so many times just to summon a shark :-) Dont worry too much plenty of nice folk on the seas.

As for forming an armada well imagine solo slooping and having 2 galleons and a sloop hunt you down. Now you understand why I dont want it. even tho I'm on a discord that can easily fill a server with 3 galleons.

  • I've had zero issues finding people to help me summon the shark, I've done it multiple times in order to help those that haven't competed it yet.

These events are the perfect way to push people to try and interact with other crews on the server it's not hard to pull up and have a chat with someone and ask if they'd like to do an event with you. I've even convinced people to give me their sloops and galleons in order to help get folks together for THD.

All it takes is a simple friendly enthusiastic approach and people love it. A lot of people on this forum need to learn how to be more social. ;)

And a lot of people need also to learn how you can use the ingame possibilitys to be able to even communicate with each other.

You obviously didnt read or understand my post properly, I said that the limit should be set so that you can only have a maximum of 2 ships that are joined as friends, one invited by the person that starts on the server initially with his ship, no other crew members can invite anyone, and no one else on the second ship could be able to invite friends with a ship of thier own either

Also you can still do this with strangers, post on the forum you want someone to help you and your crew, a stranger answers and you exchange in game usernames and join each other for the voyage its simple, cant be abused, dosnt detract from the ability to have more than one ship of crews to do a voyage/quest, it brings community members together so no problem.

I just feel sorry for all those that wanted to do Hungering Deep, my son included that couldnt even with us player every day for 2 weeks because no one wanted to help us on the servers we were on, and even when we had people offer to help us on the forums they couldnt join our server to find us to help us.

I really dont see a problem.

You can do this new weekly skeleton thrones event to get the clothes and one title all alone ... with solo/ single play. Because there are 5 thrones they are for single players and if you wanna get the second title then you must get help from other players because the other 5 thrones are relevant for multiplay.

So your son is at least in the position to get the new clothes by his own , without to need help from others.
