Using snakes as ship defence

  • My friend and I usually will round up a couple snakes before we start to do a large treasure haul for defense. We essentially drop the snakes inside our treasure chests and they will hiss when people are near even outside the boat. They also actively blind/attack players for us.

I was just wondering if anyone else also uses this tactic and how it has worked out for them?

  • @cold-dead-legs Listen mate, if I know you've even got snakes on yer ship, you won't ever be troubled by me or mine lol..... Nice tactic!

  • @katttruewalker rofl thanks! my buddy Darkzeph gets the credit though as it was his original brain child.

We have had it work in our favour a few times and I must say it's satisfying to see an enemy trying to shoot snakes blinded whilst you blunderbuss them.

  • @cold-dead-legs I have used this tactic often, gold snakes are the best and if you get enough of them, well let's just say it is a swift death! :)

  • @captnosireebob we only pick up golden animals because the pay is worth while at the end of the day.

We were debating seeing how many snakes it would take to Insta kill a player but we haven't been dedicated enough as of yet to test it.

  • @cold-dead-legs Well I noticed it when we had 25 ish it was an insta kill but I think it will be less than that.

  • @captnosireebob I hope it's less then 25! That is an impressive feat I must say!

If you put them on the window they attack the ladders on sloops. The tricky part is tgat they die from cannon fire

  • @rattlyfob that is a great Idea! I know what you mean, we have lost many a snake to cannon fire and then... Being drowned :*(

  • @cold-dead-legs 6 or 7 should do it, I guess if you wanted to know for sure, go stand in front of a gold snake and see how many bites it takes to kill yourself, and then gather that many snakes! Best places to put them are by the ammo chest and in the captain's quarters were they can reach both doors.

  • @rattlyfob Not sure if it still happens but the steps to the helm on the port side of a galleon would allow the snake spit to go through..got a pirate climbing up on that side once, as soon as he got up started to swing his cutlass wildly...shot him with the blunderbuss.:)

  • @oneshotanne very true! We mainly place our snakes inside stacks of treasure in hopes that players will grab the snake or be attacked by the snake when trying to gank our loot. Placing them by ammo crates does make a lot of sense though!

  • @cold-dead-legs - Love having me slithery friends on-board.

Recently I had 10 friends on a sloop and was stealthy boarded. Well until I head language that can't be repeated here. When the intruder re-spawned I met him at the next island and shared a grog while we laughed about his failed attempt to board my sloop.

  • @oneshotanne

We have tried this. 6 will do the job, but its not really instakill as they all take different time to get upset and strike. But I guess 5-7 seconds.

If it was not for them spiting through the floor having them as treasure in a captains cabin would be a good defense.

  • I've had snakes on my galleon close to the stairs once, all stacked and enough to one shot a boarder.

It wasnt close to anything important but often boarders would get into fights and just back into the corner where the snakes were, one crew caught on tho and started hacking them to death :-(
