This Game Used to be Beautiful

  • One of my favorite things about this game at launch was how beautiful it was. Even on my original Xbox One with my 32" LCD screen, the graphics were stunning. Seeing islands in the distance and being able to count the trees and see more and more detail at a believable and smooth rate.

Now, I have to get about 5 seconds past the name flash before the islands stop looking like blocks and start to resemble terrain. I thought it was the TV, but using a different TV proved it wasn't so. What's worse, the detail transition is a harsh, partial lag-inducing change that cheapens the game's feel.

I understand that Rare wants to make the game accessible across the board, and to make it optimal for streamers, but they shouldn't cheapen their game because of it. I shouldn't be seeing grass start to render in when I'm only 5 feet away from it. Is it possible for them to restore the game to its formal graphical glory, and make the blocky islands strictly optional for those who might not be able to handle it?

  • I agree. I don't know what happened.

  • @peskyookamiinu I feel your pain! This week-end, the loading of each island was very awful and make my game really buggy.

I even got to an outpost and when the island has been loaded a galleon appeared magicaly in front of me (it wasn't a spawn, the ship already had a flag, the sails dropped and everything). Then, my game crashed :D
