@rattlyfob you earn it through a quest for a faction. Or purchase it. It would be cool to earn it and you have the freedom to hold on to it or loose it or even drop it. Kind of like tossing it in the wishing well.
Service members use it as a drinking game. If you go out with your mates. If I present the coin and the last guy to present it buys a round or has to do some sort of grunt work like get another round or secure transport.
You could almost use it as a rock, paper, scissors type engine. That would be awesome to help settle what quest to do or who goes looking for the treasure or who stays with the ship.
I presented the idea that There is so much you can do with it.
For service member the coin is a pride thing. When you do a good job for something but they don’t want to give you a decoration they give you a coin. It is used as who has the coolest and rarest coin. So collecting 10,000 chickens could be a coin or defeating the megladon or kraken could be one. As a symbol of I did it. Oh yea I did I can prove it. See!
Just a thought. I don’t know
As most people playing arent service members it seems like a pretty big stretch to assume that everyone will get it. Furthermore, you dont think its disrespectful to service members to arbitrarily add this to a video game?
I understand the dynamics of a challenge coin in real life. But why add it to the game, a game about pirates and thievery? Love the game but is it a good idea to associate it with service members?
Still havent convinced me how this would provide somthing needed in the game that exclusive/unlockable items and cosmetics dont add.
