AMAZING NEW GAME DESIGNS (PLEASE READ TROUGH STAFF)

  • Hey guys, I had the idea of having countries into the game. So, for example, you could pick the side of being a pirate and you would raid others and hunt treasure or you decide to be part of the British fleet and conquer land.

Here below I've described some roles that I think would be very suitable for the game:

Pirate: This role would give you access to special advantages that pirates have. You would make a character for a pirate and then play as a pirate. You can swap to a British sailor but you can't switch back to a pirate after with the same character.

Brit: In this role you're a British sailor. Your main job is making sure that you conquer land and fight in big battles. You're able to work with other and you're making sure that you get loot from islands and conquering.

Spain: This is basically the same as a Brit you make sure that you conquer lands that you order by your country to get money and fame.

I also had some ideas about some game styles I also have included them here below:

    Battle Campaign:

As a Brit or Spanish, you make sure that you conquer the lands as described below. You do that by going to an outpost and hitting the matchmaking button. You will fight with 5 other ships about a piece of land. The one who wins gets the lands. All the lands that have been captured will be shown on a map. This will have the same map design as a game called "Heroes & Generals" there you also have a huge map where you can see how far the enemy or your allies came.

IMPORTANT: As I described above you also will be able to gain Fame as a Brit or Hispanic, this will enable you to gain advantages in one of those fights. You will be able to play as a commander role (I haven't yet figured out how that will work) and you can control the ships and campaign map.

BOATS, BANKS & DEATH There should be no boat when you start the game. You will have to grind with a AI captain to get money to buy your first small vessel with only 4 cannons. After you need to grind with that boat to get a better one. Once destroy use your money or grind the AI captain again to get better boats. If you die you lose everything on the boat and what you wear (so armor with better stats or something that makes you faster). Boats can be repaired but not retrieved again after you die. Banks are going to be in big city island where you can store your money, fruit, treasure, jewelery, etc.

CITIES AND ISLANDS New updates to the game where huge islands are made that contain cities. These will contain auction houses, blacksmiths, boat traders, mineral buyers, fruit sellers, jewelry makers and taverns. For trading, there should be some cheap fruits that give you just a tiny bit of HP and there should be expensive fruits that make you able to get a lot of HP fast. For trading, this will be an amazing thing. Also, there should be minerals that you can turn into cannonballs, weapons, jewelery and boats. These you can mine on the big islands and you can get them from chests and the city store. New weapons with different levels and stats should get added to for the blacksmith.

100 Player Open World = You could have a 100 player open world but with new updates to the game where you can add cities and taverns. You will have small casinos where you will be able to make some extra money and some bigger islands where you will be able to ride a horse and climb mountains. These cities will have their own AI police so if there will be fights in front of the city port the AI will start attacking you. Cities will have taverns where you will be able to do missions and find crew members, they will have a blacksmith where you can get weapons and the behind the city you can go on an exploration in the jungle.

    VERY INTERESTING

Ship mechanics, that is one of the most important parts of this game. Let's suppose that this game actually requires you to buy a ship. There will be 2 possibilities for you, go to the tavern and find a captain that needs a crew. Or join an AI captain where you do missions to earn money, these missions will be held on a separate server with no other online players so you will be able to make some money to buy a ship. On open world battles (so PvP you can fight other pirates or country captains and you will be able to get their loot, ship or gold. Trading specific types of fruits will be worth a lot of money as back in the day fruit on ships was uncommon. More sea animals will be added that you can hunt for money and you can sell them.

COMBAT SYSTEM One of the saddest parts about this game is the combat system. There should be a new way for swords fight and improved animations, weapons should only be available while above water and when in or underwater you can only use your sword. If you climb out of the water you need to dry your gun. This can be done by a 3 seconds animation where you flip your gun and water spills out of your barrel. On the sides of boats, there should be little things where you can hold on so you can dry your weapon before you enter a ship. This can be a little rope or a piece where you can hold on to.

WEAPONS There should be a difference between starter weapons and advanced weapons. Starter weapons can shoot faster but deal less damage. Advanced and more expensive weapons shoot slower but deal a lot of damage if used correctly.

TRADING SYSTEM Enhancements to the character can deal a lot of new opportunities. You can visit the auction house in the city where you can actually trade weapons, rings, fruit, minerals (gold, silver, bronze, you will be able to mine those ores), and of course treaties such as jewelry or treasures that you found. Fruits will be a part of the trade but most important armor, weapons and boats that give you different stats should be the main part of this trade.

I hope you guys liked my new ideas and I hope that this will get implemented because it's amazing.

  • I liked none of this.
It would change everything away from what the game was meant to be.

Maybe you should give Skull and Bones a look.

  • @stripiertiger25 it sounds like you want a more combat heavy game. Unfortunately this is a game more about exploration.

You are also asking for vertical progression, something stated as having no place in this game.

I like your ideas regarding the combat system, maybe not the whole drying weapons thing though, as the only way to get to islands at the moment is via the water. However the tipping water out the barrel thing is cool!

I like you ides for expanding the map, however they would be impossible to implement. This would be a whole different game. Yes, Islands do need to feel more alive, but you're asking for a completely different, MMO heavy type world. Unfortunately this is not what the game is and I do not think this would work. Same with the 100 player open world. This would be really difficult to implement and run on the servers, as well as individual consoles and PCs may not be able to support that many players on screen, with the graphics as they are.

I like the idea of different factions for you to join at level up, but I do not like the way you have explained them to work, as this does not mix with the type of game SoT is as well.

In short, It seems you want the game to be more like and MMO. Unfortunately that's not how this game works, and many of your ideas are for a different game.

  • Hey @thewolfman321 ,

You couldn't possibly understand how much I see and get the situation. This game is amazing for exploration and having fun with your friends, unfortunately how much I wish it could be different, it looks like it will be the next 'No Man's Sky'. The fact that this game has animated funny looking characters makes it so much fun if there would be a decent amount of combat, weapon stats, clothes stats and much more added in the game.

I can see the issue with the servers and I think that 'Cloud Imperium Games' can help you with that. They run the 'Star Citizen' program, but everything that is missing here is constantly being added to their game.

The fact that this game is an exploration game makes it have so much potential and having big warfare and b****s looking cities will make the game have a great gameplay mechanic.

I am definitely not telling you how to run the game but re-looking the situation and making sure that this won't be a 'No Man's Sky' V2.0 will make this game so much more fun in my opinion.

    Have a awesome day!

  • I don't know game making but....I feel like to do all that they would have to completely start from scratch.

Some of the suggestions are cool little details but would be a pain to implement I imagine(drying off your gun)...the weapons suggestion leans into progression that is against what there goal is with the game. Large scale servers with cities and features sound nice but would be a lot of time and work and would most likely require scrapping the current world. Large scale servers? Always a nice idea but that is a big undertaking for seasoned mmorpg developers let alone ones trying to figure out the whole online game thing.

I dunno. I mean no offense but you have so many hardcore changes there you are basically asking them to make a new game versus supporting the game they already made. Maybe Sea of Thieves isn't your cup of tea?

  • @stripiertiger25 Hi Matey!

I know I couldn't understand what exactly you mean/are thinking. That's why I say things like: it sounds like/ it seems. However, I just wanted to point out that your vision of weapon/clothing stats goes directly against what the devs have said the game will be, so they won't be in the game.

Yes, exploration game, with no load screens and the world around us constantly existing. This is why you can't have big cities, because they would constantly need to be rendered the entire time, which wouldn't be possible due to the technical capacity we as humans currently have. Yes, they could use procedural generation, but as with NMS, cities are very difficult to generate this way.

I hope I did not come across as critical, but it just seems like a few of your ideas are too big a scope for the game. If it had sections with load screens, like in Skyrim or AC4, then this would be easy to do, but because of the seamless sailing in game and no load screens when getting to islands, I don't think cities would be doable.

I do agree with what you said, but just has to be on a smaller scale. Like little shanty towns instead of cities, for example.

  • You've seen how long one big fish takes them right? All the stuff you mention will take them 363748 years, to be released just before Half Life 3...

  • Yep. Sounds like you want a different game.
The only thing I really agree with is larger servers and larger maps. 100 Players per server would be awesome. That paired with more quest types would go a long way toward solving many of this games perceived problems. IMO.
