Idea for things to do on a boat.

  • Ever think sitting on a boat is boring when sailing over to a destination? I think Rare should add content where you can do cool activities on the boat (mopping the floor, playing card games...) I think it would be a really cool idea and it will get people entertained. Maybe games where you can win gold like blackjack. There are limitless options but I think this is a good idea. Tell me what you think!

  • @a-hawkzxx I totally agree
I thought it would b great to have games with wagers for coin like arm wrestling or that five finger game with a knife
Maybe even have dire consequences like a finger getting chopped off lol

  • I'd love some kind of activity. How would the public react to gambling, even if no real cash is involved?

  • Anything like the pub games in Fable would be perfect

  • Drunken fist fights with the crew!!! I say this everytime...... i want it so bad.

    Wow. Sounds like fun.
I am willing to sway from side to side (getting drunk) while you (or anyone) mop the floors of my house.
Hell, I'll even throw some water at your face to give the feeling of waves crashing over the deck.
We could even make a game of it.
    Roll the dice ..
one = swab the deck (sweep, mop and polish. The whole house has bare wooden floors) .
two = wash the dishes, stove and kitchen walls (clean 2 two fridges plus chest freezer and pantry shelves).
three = mow the lawns and shovel up dog droppings (get to keep any snakes you find).
four = do my laundry (wash hang, fold, put away).
five = clean my windows and remove spider webs. (the place is full of them)
six = tidy the whole house (includes cleaning the guttering. You never know what might be living in them).

    Won't that be fun? :o)

Disclaimer: As an Australia I must pre-warn you that everything here is venomous.

  • I personally think, potions should be crafted for order of souls. Like something progressive while sailing for a main voyage. Maybe gather materials on islands and craft them on your boat?! Or maybe a small kitchen to peel potatoes. And Potatoes give you more health. So it is worth sitting and waiting while sailing around..

  • @personalc0ffee 2 people could easily manage that. And this is for long travels, it often feels emty and boring

  • @personalc0ffee Yep. I barely have time to roll a cigarette or run to the toilet depending on the crew we're with at the time.

  • @admiral-rrrsole I have to smoke outside, the amount of times I've come back to a sinking ship is almost enough to make me think about quitting... or moving house...

  • @a-hawkzxx although i like the idea of adding content like that to the game i also do think that it would get even harder to try to get your crew to trim the sails as needed during your voyages and or keep an eye out for enemy players that have their mind set on making your ship say hello to davey jones.

  • We play a game called planks, 1 person per plank, countdown from 3 and drink your grog, first to fall loses. Its a 2 player galleon game as sloops dont have planks or someone to steer while drunks fall off the ship

  • I’m sure there are good reasons for not allowing this (potential hackers), but it would be nice to be able to give other players some of your money. If this mechanic was put in place all sorts of card games could be added or even just simple dice (which I believe Rare has already mentioned wanting to add).

    two words for you

    NOT

    WELL

    :/

Especially with the recent lootbox s**t going down...
    i needed more words...

  • @jack-littleshoe
Alot of games had some form of gambling in them. All the way back to nes days. If i remember right, even pokemon had a casino

  • While on travel, you can:

    • look for ship's wrecks
    • survey if ennemies are coming or look for targets
    • cannon yourself on islands/ barrels for supplies
    • manage the sails
    • help the navigator avoid the rocks
    • play music

In some countries any kind of gambling would increase the age rating. Something Rare probably wants to avoid.

  • @nwo-azcrack game boy colour, yeah, red and blue had a casino, on the Mega Drive/Genesis sonic had a special stage that was a slot machine, sonic 2 had a whole casino level

  • I’m not saying that playing games on the boat is mandatory. Of course, it will be your decision to either focus more on sailing rather then playing. In some circumstances or situations, you can have the time to be able to play the games. Like I said, the card game was just an idea. Maybe you’re right, bringing in a casino like game may not be appropriate for a pirate game (especially with a lot of young people) but I think it would be a good idea to open this idea up and see if we can make it happen.

  • @a-hawkzxx I would agree with this idea in the taverns.
Taverns should be a place with activity.

  • The targets they have at some outposts would be cool on a ship. The ring you hit lights up or something.

  • @a-hawkzxx

I wanna have my speaking parrot (with the silly mind of spongebob squarepants) and a speaking skull (with the bad mood of Squidward tentacle) ... both are sitting near the wheel on the ship and fool together around , telling jokes , both singing shanty's together and so on.Both just entertain the whole crew with black humor phrases .

  • Boats are for sailing, not playing games - you can go to the pub for that, or make up your own like so-and-so above. For example, my friends would drink at the tavern and race to the boat to see who could get there fastest without falling off the dock (works best at ancient spire IMO)...

I also sometimes ahem put on fashion shows for my crew... 😅

  • maybe even the ability to close windows and doors which can assist in storms or just plain fact of adding depth, but i do love the idea of playing cards while sailing to an island that is at the other end of the map.

  • I agree completely but I must say the proper terminology for "mopping the floor" on a ship is "swabbing the deck".

  • It's an option.

  • Did anybody play "A Way Out"?!?!
It's not a question as to whether or not games on the ship would be cool!
    It's a question of what games ...
No cards that's promotion gambling for sure too much for adults
Arm wrestling with a wager so that if u lose you're p****d and hesitant to arm wrestle the same person again lol
Five finger filet ( with dire consequences lol... Ha know basic funny games
Maybe a parrot on board that u could interact with that would repeat things people say in an altered playback...
    Some imagination
And as far as activities distracting the crew NAH 1 lookout is all u need! ...maybe 2 at the most ...activities would b something a crew would partake in *** at their own risk***
But would be , no question about it - fun
Like playing music and drinking - distractions but everyone EVERYONE enjoys I
    These from time to time

For sure, but endless consumption of alcohol, puking in peoples faces and killing others with multiple sword slashing or firearm shots is okay for the kiddies.

It's somewhat like American government logic.
At the age of 18 permitted to join the military & control multiple weapons capable of taking lives.
At the age of 18 permitted to buy a lottery ticket.
At the age of 15 permitted to control a vehicle capable of taking lives.
At the age of 14 permitted to own and control a weapon capable of taking lives.
But only at the age of 21 permitted to buy and drink a beer.

    Australia laws:
At the age of 17 & 9 months permitted to control a motor vehicle.
At the age of 18 permitted to buy a lottery ticket.
At the age of 18 permitted to join the military & control multiple weapons.
At the age of 18 permitted to apply for a firearms license to own a firearm.
At the age of 18 permitted to buy and consume alcohol.

  • @a-hawkzxx Liars. Dice. Please Rare!

  • @nwo-azcrack thats right had, as in past tense, with the current climate towards lootboxes and how they are starting to be thought of as gambling, i don't think rare wants to risk having ACTUAL gambling in their game, that isn't to say i don't want it cause i do, but i won't be surprised if all we get is the ability to play the games without betting.

  • @admiral-rrrsole
    I hear u I do
But it's not just that it should be added because the game is really chock full of adult stuff; killing , stealing lol
It's that cards on the boat would be too much a distraction from the game/ managing the ship - keeping watch
Very basic games - arm wrestling- activities like that r more appropriate because they r short and sweet players wouldn't get too consumed - too distracted from the the game - in and out- fast paced
    Maybe checkers
    Five finger filet
the game where u shuffle 3 cups and the player guesses which cup the whatever is under....
An accortment of games with wagers for coin
    Gambling but basic old games

  • There are a bunch of card games out there that don't have to do with gambling. I think the idea of activities on the boat is enough to give an idea for developers for them to make specific content on their own.

  • Here's my suggestions for things to do on a boat:

    1. Angle the sails when needed.

    2. Raise and lower the sails when needed.

    3. Be on the lookout for things. Other ships, shipwrecks, floating barrels, booty.

    4. Fire yourself over to nearby islands to gather resources.

In other words do some bloody work to help your crew out.
