Refund coins wasted on shark figurehead made worthless by THD reward!

    I log into SOT and wow finally something to spend coins on. So I deck out my ship in all THD customizations. Then I proceed to the quest, completed in about an hour, and the reward of a nearly identical figurehead. Means I just threw away 70,000 coins buying the shark hunter figurehead. Maybe a locked image of the reward figurehead can be shown on the customization options so players are aware of its existence and that it can be earned.

    This is a warning to all who may fall victim to this and a request to Rare to refund coins spent on a custom figurehead that is made worthless by THD reward. I understand there is a difference between the figureheads but players should be informed they can get the better of the two for free.

    @simplkindoman Maybe complete the mission beforehand instead of buying items right away? That way you can save money and frustrations...

    No need to blame a game because you decided to treat yo' self.

    I did the same thing. I wouldn't dream of demanding a refund for my mistake though, take it as a lesson for the next update.

    Your skills have gotten better. That's the progression in this game. You learned a lesson and will likely not purchase so foolishly in the future. If we were to refund you for the figurehead, then you would have more gold, and not have to venture out and earn it. Therefore you would progress even faster because you wouldn't be subject to other people hunting you while you collect loot. Have you not been reading this forums?

    No, I don't spend my time reading posts not germaine to my feedback which is primarily directed to the game developers.

    In response to your claim that I made a foolish purchase...Wrong I made an uninformed purchase that could have been prevented if the locked image of the reward was present at the point of purchase.

    About my coins being refunded offering me an advantage. Lol nothing that is purchased in this game offers any advantage what so ever.

    I did the same thing. I felt like it was a bit of a waste of money after I got the one from the quest but I like the shark hunter one more so whatever. it will just take a bit longer to get the next thing you want to buy.

    Yeah it was a waste, i wont ever use the regular shark one when i have the glowey eyed HD one to use...
    not expecting money back though, the goal is to eventually own everything anyway right?

    They should have released the shark figurehead after the hungering deep, for those who didn't get the meg figurehead. It does seem strange that they would sell some basic shark when you can unlock the meg figurehead for free.

    I knew there was a figurehead reward, didn't know it was near the exact same thing as the purchasable one, so I'm with you. Instead of a refund I wouldn't mind if they just made them more distinguishable. I don't understand this track record of being lazy with these ship figureheads.

    It's only 70k. It isn't like coins are hard to come by in this game. It doesn't take long before money is never a worry.

    I'd love a refund for my looks-black-but-it's-dark brown paint job, but I'm not crying about it.

    I have two points to make.

    1. based on the lead up promotional materials right here on this site, I was able to infer that the cosmetic reward for defeating the Hungering One would be a shark figurehead, and even though I wasn't 100% positive, I was sure enough to not spend gold in the shops until I fought the beast and found out for certain.

    2. I do however think that, because players are buying the cosmetics they like out of the available options, but new options are being made available all the time, a player should have a way to sell back their purchases at a steep loss, maybe something like 30%.

    At the start of the game, I just saved all my coin because I wasn't super excited about any of the cosmetics or weapons or ships. A couple patches ago when they introduced the rogue seadog and all those others, I found a hull and sails that I was pretty happy with, but if in the next patch there is something similar that I like a little more, even if it's cheaper, I'm not about to ask for my money back for what I already bought.

    Sometimes you get burned when you make hasty decisions, both in game and in real life.

    @simplkindoman bought the sharkhead just to find out you win one after the fight which is nicer and dont think i will ever use the other one.

    perhaps if they allowed us to sell items we might never use at a lower price that would be nice.

    Just run some level 50 merchant with someone. 5-10k per voyage with ease.

    Yeah I was slightly disappointed that I have 2 shark figureheads, but not disappointed enough to ask for a refund.

    Someone in my group did this, was laughing when I got the cosmetic for free. Again, ANOTHER example of how the developers have not set back and brainstormed this whole concept. It's similar to having a quest be all in one spot, so griefers can block others from doing it. Thanks rare! Come on guys, lets thank rare for this new update, it's been amazing! It gave me 30 minutes of actual enjoyment with hours of wasted time and repetition! I sure can't wait till the next update! I hope it's pets so I can throw money at them to keep me entertained for an extra 5 minutes tops! Or better yet, maybe they shouldn't even update the game anymore, it's so fun as it is! There is just so much to do! :D
