Ahoy all, its a pleasure to be here. I was sailing last night with my usual sloop buddy, and we were slowly working through the early part on the Hungering Deep voyage. We meandered a lot to ship wrecks (has shipwreck look been increased 10 fold??) but managed to get the speaking trumpet, and found all the discarded journals. On the way back to see Merrick to collect our drum before we called it a night, we spotted A LOT of sloops going about there business. So we decided to try out the speaking trumpet to get to grips with it...problem is, we have no idea if it worked. Does anyone know if you have to be in game chat to use it or can you use it directly from private party? (we switch between the two if we encounter other players) we tried both methods but received no indication if it worked or not, also, anyone know what the range is on it? - we play on Xbox. Thanks in advance.
The speaking trumpet...

@greenf1nch Easiest way to test this is to exit your party and then use the trumpets together at an island or something. That's how we tested it. We are all on PC, but muted our Discord chat. Worked pretty good and had a good laugh on how it made us sound!
Will give this a try later for sure. We still have to summon and be killed by Meg so will get that sorted first then have a play with the trumpets. Thanks @Murkrage

@murkrage We are GMT. We will be on again at approx. 8pm tonight (currently 9.35am)
I am CET, so that works out :). Just add me on Xbox, same username.

The added chat wheel with the trumpet is perfect. Even when in party chat it does whats needed. Me likey!
AaaarrrggghhhhhOh I haven't checked the chat wheel yet, what does it say?
@murkrage -Friend or Foe?
-We are friendly
-Can you hear me?
-Over hereDon't remember the rest...but they are good and helpful all together
@Schwammlgott
Oh man! I thought the sloop was typing those things. I've seen them come by, didn't realise they were part of the chat wheel. Good game Rare, nice.@murkrage Friend or For...were friendly....lets sail together...DAVEY JONES LOCKER FOR YOU!! what I can remember right now.
@schwammlgott were they in your party? if you're on pc then it doesn't matter it's only xbox that need to be game chat
@wipe-nd-clean that's the thing...I was in a party (XBox)-someone else drove by and talked with the speaking trumpet and I heard him...
A friend said, it's like a push to talk item, they should hear me too, but I had no proof@schwammlgott hmmm maybe they were on PC so it worked for you hearing them but not the other way round - anyone have a definitive answer on this?
If you're on Xbox game chat they work both ways, if your in a private party you can only hear the other players trumpet not reply. When in party chat your voice isn't relayed to the server or something.
We used to swap between the two but it can cause issues so now we just tend to use game chat🙂This is on Xbox.
@wipe-nd-clean i tried something out right now, but with the same crewmember and both on XBox...you can hear someone else who's in the game-chat when you're in the party-chat but not the other way...even without the trumpet...so that's new, never heard someone else when in a party
@foofighter107 but the problem is, that the game chat isn't good at all...if the quality would be better and the little break up's wouldn't happen...
@schwammlgott agree, that's why we used to use party chat and just swap over when we needed to talk to other crews but swapping caused all of us to have temporary game issues when swapping over. It performs better when you set it to non-directional though, have you tried that? Not perfect but usable.
@schwammlgott in the in game settings menu under audio I think. One of the options is directional or non-directional.
It's the same menu you can use for remapping your buttons (helps loads, have you done this?)
