I'm done with this game until hacking and griefing are fixed

  • Joined three different servers. Each had a different pirate legend galleon in it. Each one spawn killing and harassing. Now that's all well and good, "part of the game," and "scuttle your ship," yada yada yada. But 2 of these legendary ships had hackers. 2 different servers, 2 different ships, and they both had hackers.

"But Noodle, how do you know they were hacking?"

Teleportation, for one. Both crews teleporting from shoreline to boat, boat to their boat, etc. On top of that, one hit kills with pistols. Perfect example being me shooting one of them in the back of the head with a blunderbuss, not getting hit markers, he turns around, shoots me with a pistol when I'm at full health, I die instantly.

So yeah, maybe before you bring out new content, fix what's already broken in the game. Like the lack of anti-hacking measures. Until then, I'm done sailing. This is just unacceptable.

  • @xxxxnoodlexxxx report those, who you believe cheated. If you can, include a video proof.

Do you have video of this ?

  • There is no godmode or teleportation cheats. Stop with the bs exaggeration. Esp and aimbot. That's it.

  • @xgodkevin To add to this the devs have admitted its a very very small amount of people hacking. The chances that the OP encounters two different hackers on two different servers is nearly impossible. I suspect other reasons. Also in high tense PvP moments you think something has happened but it hasn't its the adrenaline and the fact you aren't fully focused.

  • Literally everything you reference in this can be traced to synchronization issues.

I had the exact same experience wherein I shot a pirate with EoR, slashed 3 times noting the 4th showed a hit but no body animation indicating it counted, sword thrust within seconds of each other and he was in view the whole time, on video, clearly hadn't eaten a banana in between.

then as I chased him below deck as soon as I got near the ammo box on the galleon I was teleported off the ship and into the water.

I was pretty darn sus of all that.

I reported it, here, on xbox app, and so on...

I even had deckhands look at the video for advice based on the assumption of greater in game experiences than I and to assure my potential forum post fit into the rules of the forum.

What was discovered during re-watches was that my ping within a few seconds jumped from 70 to 400 to 800 then back to 70.

I looked at my internet and noticed my connection was fine, both in it's historical reports, and thereafter.

Rare did forward it to their security team - it's the only thing that can be done - but even the support tech themselves remarked it was most likely a tech issue on their end.

    Hacks will exist.

Having an experience like this would tick me off as well, as it had.

But I feel your assuming alot based on perception and not the liklier truth.... the servers seem to SUCK and sync really seems to be a serious issue.

Heck, even I drop to 10 fps on occasion for no reason whatsoever that I can detect out on the open seas since the "Banana-Gate" issues, I think the servers hate us.

Sorry you've had issues, I can respect why that might be a final straw, but I don't think your dealing with h4xx0rs even based on your evidence, which I won't question you witnessed.

  • I once saw a pirate teleport to my boat 3 times. Its a long story i dont really wanna type.
Anyway after i logged i scoured the interwebs for a teleportation cheat or glitch. As far as i can tell it doesnt exist. So i chalked it up to lag or ping. Without solid proof, you have no case mate.

  • I have reported it. And I have in the past when I've encountered c**p like this. If the servers are so awful that client-side lag is one sided enough that it appears to be hacking? That's a problem. Even if it's not hacking, and it is a server thing, it's pretty pathetic that it would magically not affect a 4 person galleon, but make it look like hacking for a 2 person sloop. Pretty damn convenient, that.

Also, thank you for an actually helpful post. I know what I saw, and I know my ping and internet weren't to blame. I have it on video and it looks like old school CS hacks. Pretty easy to see why I got the idea. But damn if that's how one-sided the servers are, that some are just unaffected and people think they're hacking because of latency issues? That's a pretty damn big issue with the game.

  • SEA ya later!!✌

I could EASILY be incorrect, but none of the remarks lines up with easily known hacks. Which makes me lean towards another issue.

The fact that the servers really do run like c**p and everyone is is out of sync with everyone else only upsets me more... perhaps more than there being common hacks to be honest!

  • How come in atleast 500+ hours of gameplay I have never come across a cheater. Or could it be other problems some people think is cheating but in fact is releated to other stuff like, Lagg issues because packageloss, or maybe thinking I have full health when im in fact hit by 1 or 2 bullets at the same time, Or that maybe I don't know about how the sword works and that you can sword launch so they move quickly from 1 place to the other and it would seem they can teleport :P

I acctualy boarded a pair of dudes in a sloop that was around 30+ in all factions and still did not know about the swordlaunch and they asked us how the hell we did board their ship so quickly. SO its definitly possible people don't know about that kinda stuff.
And before you ask, we did end up not sinking them and just talking to them insteed, because we allready had sunk them one time before and we wanted to do some RP this time with them :P

  • I got hundreds of hours in this game and I don't think I ever met any hackers and if I did it wasent noticable at all.
Some people call cheaters and hackers way to fast in many games as soon as they go against a really skilled player.

  • @xxxxnoodlexxxx
    paranoia will get you far.
For example, I saw a legend with 6galleons protecting him.

That's how you make legends come to life.

  • I suck at PVP, doesn't stop me trying it, it always felt like i have been beaten unfairly by 1 shot kills etc, but in reality, i'm just flapping about waving my sword about in the hope i do some serious damage whilst others are probably far more calculated in their attacks at me.
I came to the conclusion that i am not constantly fighting cheaters, and just need to up my own game.. Since then, i still get put to the sword more than i would like, but i do now see other people die also by trying to be more calculated in my attacks and not a flapping fool!

There are other options available to you, rather than take on pirates. Use them if you constantly get killed, and flee! Then once you have cashed in and are at the end of your play session, try what i do, attack the nearest player and gain a little extra experience, you've nothing to lose and everything to gain.

  • @calissedecrisse
While you have hundreds of hours, I am a casual player and encounter at least 1 hacker (?) ever second login.

If it is INDEED a server issue, it is even sadder.
    The weirdest story for me:
Me and my 2 friends (galleon) went to an outpost, there was a one-guy ship.We confirmed there was only one guy by one of us swimming on land and checking the ship and island. Due to that guy attack or man we decided to sink his ship.
1 Friend fired himself on the ship with a canon and I fired canons.
My friends managed to kill that guy and went to see if there is still stuff on the ship. Only SECONDS later I heared water. When I went downstairs, I saw 10+ holes everwhere but NO water. Before I could do something, the sound for sinking kicked in and suddendly even I was under water.
We didn't have any explosives or ANYTHING that could have damaged our ship.
My ping and fps were normal.

So yea, we assumed it was some kind of hack. (also it was the time one could still see the names from everywhere.

  • @xgodkevin said in I'm done with this game until hacking and griefing are fixed:

You forgot unlimited cannon balls, planks and bananas.

  • In all my hours of playing and enjoying this game I've had 2 instances of cheating. One of witch I'm 100% sure and one I'm fairly certain.

    1. This was a while ago, we came across a galleon, we got sniped so hard. Not just we can walk around and get sniped sometimes no this guy hit us on every shot. As soon as we came above deck or left the captains quarters we got sniped by this one guy, he didnt miss a shot. It seems a lot like aimbot and wallhacks to me, but I can never be 100% sure, maybe this guy was aiming at the right spot at the right time and got lucky.

    2. Second time time was some sure fire cheating.
The players abused a bug where you can brig a player that is spawning into the game, that player becomes really bugged but can also loot everything without a cap. They had this bugged person get on board to loot all of our planks. This exploiting of bugs is also a form of cheating.

Otherwise I've never seen people cheating. Sure I've seen really laging people hopping around (can be seen as teleporting) but I think being close to the UK and having great ping times they are mostly standing still for me and this works in my advantage rather then theirs.

  • @sobergrub endless cannonballs, bananas, planks are a glitch, not a cheat.
kill the player and it ends.

  • @blooddoll22 banana gate. Awesome. Best call in long time👍

  • I just want to let you know that griefing has been fixed in the recent update. It now works 100% of the time.

  • More than likely this is poor situational awareness.. people teleport all the time, ships appear out of no where, they shoot in kill and 1 shot... of course only when your not paying attention.

Your weren't paying attention to your surroundings or your health bar. There are server side functions that players cannot hack...
