Ebony flintlock pistol

    As some of you may know, there was a mixer stream a couple of months ago. If you attended to it you would get an exclusive ebony flintlock skin. This skin would complete the black dog pack for all founders that have also bought the chips ahoy promotional cookies and the seagate harddisk.

    Now the funny thing is; nearly nobody knew this event was coming. Neither did I. I didn't get an e-mail from Rare, nothing. I've searched online and have seen a few older threads on the forums and on reddit. Rare has responded, letting us know "they'll look into it".

    I've had enough of waiting and I'd like to know if there has been posted any update on this topic. I am trying so hard to collect all the exclusive skins. I've got them all except the ebony flintlock pistol. This also was something out of my control, which I find extremely unfair.

    What are you going to do about this Rare? Can you at least let everyone know LONG beforehand there will be a stream with a promotion?

    I really dont want to sound too negative but I'm pretty sure Rare is going to ignore this thread like they do a lot of times. Which makes me even sadder.

    @davidbarlow there are several existing threads about this. there were 2 opportunities to get it, granted, the first one wasn't advertised as much as it probably should have been.

    But like you said, it's an "exclusive item". And it should stay that way. There would be people crying about missing it, even if we had 1000 chances.

    @sir-lotus Yet it's still funny how I didnt get an e-mail about the second one. I'm getting e-mails from Rare for every single other subject. Never seen an opportunity to get this skin.

But when a collecter, that has been a part of the community before alpha even started, really tries to collect all the exclusives, he/she should be able to get it.

    I've pre-ordered the game, bought 3 months of xbox live (while not even owning a xbox), got the SoT controller, bought 4 packs of chips ahoy AND bought a seagate harddisk witht he sea of thieves logo on it.

    I would have watched the entire stream if it enabled me to get the ebony flintlock. It's their bad for not communicating it well to community members of all regions.

    I did and with me tens of thousands of people. that's hardly " nearly nobody"

    And as far as the communication goes, that stream was the second time one could get it and yes they did not send you an email. but it was everywhere else, forums, twitter.. etc. And it was reposted by forum members when the stream started to reddit and the forums here.

    @lucky-monkee and give me one good reason they wouldnt inform people through e-mail? I have no twitter and did not see any forum activities. I have a personal agenda like you (hopefully) do too.

    My point is the way they've handled this is pretty toxic. It's based on luck: did you have time to read the forums at the time or no? I'm an active read of the forums but often have times where I'm busy with work. I dont get personnaly notified and unlike EVERY OTHER collectible this game has to offer, this pistol skin is limited by TIME. Also; ZERO EFFORT once you're one of the lucky few that had time to read the forums.

    There is literally no reason for them not to e-mail active community members. I could've made time in my agenda if I knew it was coming. Why not do a "quest for the golden banana" type of thing? Put in a lil effort to solve a riddle and it will be available for at least a week. Like the day one eye-patch and the limited eye of reach.

    Btw: Compare ten's of thousands to the active playerbase of Sea of Thieves for a moment.

    Agreed, I'm not against exclusives, but this was just too limited for way too many people. There are a lot of big Sea of Thieves fans who want to get everything the game has to offer, but they also have lives to tend to so they can't spend every waking hour sifting through social media to stay appraised on every little thing. Had the Ebon Flintlock offer been a week long thing I'm certain a lot more people would have heard about it and a lot of die hard fans wouldn't be complaining right now. I know people who watched it and didn't receive the item. I know people who didn't hear about it because they were too busy playing the game the first few days. I myself didn't hear about it until the day before and unfortunately couldn't make time to watch it.
    I think what really bugs a lot of people is that it's part of a set. You get every other Black Dog item and then you have this missing item in the whole set.
    I missed out on the Founders Pack because I was too busy getting my life back on track after Chemo and I'm not complaining. I had plenty of time to join in on the Alpha and didn't. It should remain exclusive because it's a symbol of your involvement in the games early development.
    I'd be a lot more sympathetic to keeping the Ebon Flintlock exclusive had it been something people paid for like the Ferryman Pack and Midnight Blunderbuss, but it's something you got for having heard of it on time and having the availability to watch it.
    Personally I think it should be a reward for following Sea of Thieves, or Xbox on Mixer. Would be good advertisement for the platform.
