Fort hopping is good for the community.

  • Now that private crews are in the game, fort hopping has become more viable because each person on the crew can search for forts at once. A person's "knee-jerk" reaction to fort hopping is that its abuse of systems and bad for the community but I'm thinking its just the opposite and it should be embraced by the devs.

The big bennefit to fort hopping is that it gives people who like pvp a place to pvp without having to spend over half their time chasing people across a map. Pvp is really what keeps my group of friends in this game and some of us are more tolerable of low pvp sessions than others. Now with easier fort hopping, Ive been able to get most of my friends back into the game to fight over some forts. Rather than block what appeals to this people because it wasnt initially intended, this should be embraced and observed to create other systems that would yield similar results.

  • Server hopping is never good for any game. People dont really server hop to PvP, they do it to grind. High value things are high value due to 'rarity'. Hopping causes nerfs and unnecessary server work.

The game just needs more events and content, not embracing gaming the system.

  • @gamaguado yeh but it takes away from every other aspect of the game if everyone fort hopped no one will have treasure on a boat when you sink them

  • Fort Hopping is gaming the system. On top of that, it's a stupid tactic. People who Fort Hop don't understand that mindlessly grinding to Pirate Legend isn't the goal of the game.

Fort hopping needlessly stresses the servers and creates empty servers when they leave.

That being said, i like fighting the hoppers because they usually leave after you kill them once, and since they have not been on the server for a while they are usually low on supplies and easy prey
