I play on Xbox but am looking for a cheap laptop to play on also. Can anyone suggest a laptop in the $300 range.
I was looking at the Lenovo 320 but have no idea if it meets the requirements of the game
I'd check that page to double check any laptops you are looking at getting-
laptop gpu's tend to perform a lot worse than the desktop counterpart - naming wise they tend to put an M next to the graphics card name (940m vs 940 ) to indicate that its a mobile card. while that laptop may run..it might run very hot and at low frame rate. I would honestly avoid gaming on a laptop unless you intend to use the laptop for something else. as you get more bang for your buck when it comes to desktop components. (while I probably didn't answer your question I hope this helps :S)
@mebigchicken
Hey there! I definitely don't recommend getting a $300 laptop to try and play games on. Most mid-range gaming desktops run from $900 - $1100 at retail, scratch built. To get decent enough specs to run SOT on laptop you'll probably need to increase your budget to at least the $1300 range barring any major sales; because as @Astro-I7 mentioned most laptops are underpowered compared to desktop counterparts. If you want to look at the recommended specs and part a computer to see what it would cost you to break into PC gaming I recommend using https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/. It's a really great site that makes PC building easier by showing you known hardware incompatibilities (like part size and ram compatibility), giving you access to peer reviews, and showing you the current listed price for the part on a wide range of retailers. You can also take a look at some decent builds other people have made and what the cost of replicating it will be. I think it's also important to consider why you want to get a laptop, if it's just for gaming, then I definitely think you'll want to save up for it and get something that will last you for the next 3-5 years because unlike a desktop it's not easy or affordable to upgrade a laptop after purchase. If you primarily want it for work, then a $300 - $500 laptop will do the job just fine. If I get a chance I can take a look and see if there are any good gaming laptops on sale right now but I can't promise i'll be able to.
EDIT: I took a quick peek at the Lenovo Ideapad 320 and my verdict is that it cannot run SOT. The major issue with it is actually the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit, Video Card). As expected it's way underpowered; the integrated video card is the Intel HD620, which is ancient relative to current gaming standards. However, I was pleased to see the processor was actually a reasonably powerful i7. The other major issue with it is that it only comes with 4gbs of RAM, it supports up to 16gbs of reasonably fast ram but it's nothing to write home about and you probably won't want to spend a small fortune getting a pile of laptop RAM for what is definitely not going to be a powerful gaming laptop.
