Cooldown on submerged weapons

  • Now that the players are less visible under water, I think its a great time to make the game a bit more interesting and deep.
    Shooting your weapon underwater seems fake, too easy and not necessary. Killing sharks is too easy when you have a pistol and a blunderbuss equiped now, there is no real treat.
    Attacking other ships is too easy as well, you always have a huge advantage when you climbed up their ladder and they are just doing their steering, sailing etc. Shooting yourself on other ships doesnt add much besides it being cool now, the same for entering another ship like real pirates.

    So a 10 or 20 second weapon firing cooldown after you fully submerged your weapon/pirate would add some depth to Sot I think.

  • @kuala85 "too easy" - speak for yourself. There are many other players who doesn't think the same. By making their attempts to kill their opponent even more difficult, you simply move them away from the game. When you hit a team that matches your skill level, you will find that it is not "too easy"

    Ya literally don't have a huge advantage. They can hear swimming and the ladder water splash.

    I think your ship should be a safer and harder to capture thing, so making it harder to do just that would be fine by me. but either way, the firing under water mechanic is a bit to unimersive(no pun intended:) for my taste and a reason to try and avoid submersing yourself underwater when fighting would add dept and another skill mechanic to the game. Maybe they can introduce a visual gun/powder preperation after submerging yourself for extra immersion in the game. The way it feels right now is a bit too arcade for my tatse. The more mechanics they introduce the more dept and growth players can experience when playing and learning the game. I think that makes playing a game fun.

  • Cooldown is a nice idea. Why not dedicate submerged fights to be waged solely with melee weapons though? It would make things a lot more hilarious. LOL

    I agree :)

    Also then there would be a reason to introduce a harpoon gun as a weapon later on.
