It was the end of my night, so puled up to a ship wreck, that was awfully close to a gall. They shot a player over which i expected, i watched him swim towards my ladder... He got bit by a shark then climbed abord. I shot him point blank with a blunderbuss, and he did not die.... He then said some stupid stuff to me in game chat... He had moved to the bow of the boat, as i jumped off the deck towards me, he one shots me with a sniper rifle, and i head to the locker. Upon respawning, he contiues to talk on game chat to his crew saying "ha he is back and he thinks he can hurt me". At this point he is sort of trying to not get hit, to make look legit.... I hit him with 3 of my 5 shots again, but he does not die.... I make my way down below, and reload... Now this cheating p.o.s. is just standing there. I walk up to him point blank with the blunderbuss, no way to miss, because he is not moving, and shoot him once, shoot him twice, shoot him a third time and yet he still does not die.... BS.... I was near an outpost, so i grabbed the ine and only c****y chest i had, and made a jump for it, to whick the guy says "where are you going with my chest" and then one shots me while i am under water.... Seriously Rare, while crossplatforming may seem like a great idea, it sucks, i barely ever run into a pc player that is not running some sort of cheat.... Separate us, and let the cheaters play on a even field of cheating.... They are tuining the fun if the game. I now avoid pvp normally just because of this, knowing i will run into a pc player that has a cheat activated.

Not all are cheating, but i have run into so many that are, and admit it on game chat.... And this story was one such case.... Explain how he can just be standing there waiting for me to shoot him 3 times point blank without a care in the world.... If you are a pcer and dont cheat, well then thank you for playing the game the way it was meant to be played.... It is unfortuate that a few can ruin things for everyone..... It happens in all parts of life.Well, I am close to reach "Pirate Legend", which require quite a few hours of game play and I NEVER met ANY other player, who cheated. And I play with a crew, that does not miss a single chance to encounter other crews. So we had tons of PvP.
Any explanation for this? Why is it only very few people that constantly encounter cheaters and others never encounter cheaters? I have some theorey on this, but it involves accusing people of being cry babies, which I will not share therefore.
@wildone75 Simple... Less ping than you... latency... lag... you see it in point A but your target its on pont B, but you can't see it... that's all... Thinking that any pc player can handle a hack its don't understand how dificult and hard programing is...
all these comments about hack on pc only proves my theory that console players do not know anything about IT, in fact that's why they spend twice as much on a console instead of investing half in building a pc that will eventually have a lot more power and better aging for half the price ... it's like paying for an iphone when you can have better device for half the price and with better features .... pure ignorance ...Actually buddy, I was aboard this galleon. We were all laughing at how laggy you were, teleporting around, running on the spot, spinning in circles, running off the boat only to teleport back 5 seconds later.
You couldn't kill my friend because you were lagging out, he was saying "He think he can kill me" because on our screens you were spinning in circles and ramdonly firing your gun like a pirate ferris wheel.
Let this be a lesson to everyone shouting that PC players are hackers. Fix your internet.

It's not about paying money to fix your internet. It's about looking at whats wrong with your internet. SoT can run perfectly fine even on ISDN speeds. Most xbox players don't realise that they have a bad ping because they have next to no experience with latency issues.
That said however, if you're lagging, then that IS YOUR fault, and nobody elses, and you have to live with the fact that you're going to get killed. A lot.

because they moan and complain and scream "hacks" and think the rest of the community in an ONLINE GAME should show them some sort of special support because they have latency issues.

If so hope it was recorded so i can watch for myself and see myself rubberbanding and shooting wildly. I have not ever experienced such lag before that i have been aware of, but if it be so, then my appolgies..... This guy could snipe anyone who even popped his head up from below deck for even a second.
The Point I'm making is that you're making a whole playerbase look bad. I feel discriminated against. As a PC player I'm one to admit we have some advantages. We can aim faster can have faster load times for sure. I'd love for MS and Rare to fix thexe problems, give the X-Box KB-M Support and shutter PC loadtimes a bit so it's on par with an X-Box one X with an SSD.

No matter what game you play, if it's online and has a PC playerbase, there will be a subset of the community who will always cry wolf in such a fashion. Attempting to direct them into the realm of reason just gets you labeled as a hacker, a Rare employee perpetuating some giant conspiracy to profit off of cheats, or a fanboy in denial. It is a group that will latch onto the fact that because it exists, it must exist everywhere. It's a subset of the community you will absolutely never get through to, and will likely never change, no matter how many facts you present them with. Even an anti cheat engineer could come in and say "this is the percentage of players we find to be using cheats", and "this is the percentage of reports you guys provide that are false", and people would remain convinced of this so-called epidemic.
tl;dr this group exists in every game. sadly they will drive some people away, but there is nothing we can do about it
I'm a PC player and an Xbox player and I have NEVER cheated at any game in my 35 years of PC/Console gaming, I just don't see the point, if your no good at a game then your no good at the game, live with it, play it more and get better.
However I do agree that it is far too easy for more unscrupulous players to cheat in any game, Its about time Rare along with other major game developers paid more attention to the issue of cheating and instead of relying on player reports to punish those that eventually/sometimes get caught, they should proactively attack the issue head on and develop some seriously good anti cheat software, they should also tackle the websites set up to sell the hacks also, start using the law against these people.
I understand there is a cost element in pursuing legal cases, but if your not willing to protect your product and your player base, then it wasn't worth investing the money in the venture in the first place.
There are so many good games on the market that have been rendered unplayable because of hacking and cheaters, companies must have lost millions in revenue because of it, only last month facepunch studios cancelled production of a future title that everyone was looking forward to, blaming the community they had with rust already, saying it would just have the same problems of DDOS attacks, hacking/cheating and a toxic community, they actually said "who wants two of those" that is them admitting that they have developed a game, that whilst being so popular, it suffers from these issues, but why have they not addressed this issue? could it be that developers once they have made their money, is it a case that its easier just to instead rely on "New Content" or "Updates" to games that will draw people back to the game for short periods of time, until the player base gets fed up again with the situation.
@drunkpunk138 A simple google search will show how easy it is to obtain cheats for not only Sea of thieves but any other game on the market, they do exist, they are a problem, from what the OP described, certainly would cause me some concern too, especially when Its a fact the cheats exist and are freely available.
I do understand that instances of lag or low ping, or other such technical issues can make it appear as someone is cheating, but really how many times did the OP claim to shoot someone at point blank range, on more than one occasion and they were just laughing at him in chat....hmmmm even an old salty dog like me would question that one.
