Barrels o' Rum, Sea Turtles and "Surprise" Chests

  • So I was thinking:

What if barrels of Rum (similar to Gunpowder barrels) were added to the game? You could keep them and drink from them, or hand them in to the Merchant Alliance?

Sea turtles could be of the "Catch & Hand In" variety: you have to swim in the ocean with a basket similar to those used for the snakes. (There are already turtle shells in game so maybe this is already on its way?)

Then, what about a type of chest that when you dig it up you have to open it? (Maybe there's a key system, or you have to shoot the lock off with a well-placed shot?) That way there could be anything inside from; bags of coin, jewellery, skulls or any of the items already available in completed Skull Fort Treasure Rooms (relics and chalices etc).

    Just a few thoughts.

  • @blackdogbill I like your idea! Would the suprise chest have cosmetics too or just treasure?

    Gunpowder kegs!

  • @aloneemperor960 I think if you bring in the option to sell cosmetics (clothes and items for now, and perhaps whatever else is brought into the game later) to the merchants ... then this could also work.

Could find rare items, sets, or just random loot that you could sell.

As Pirates in SoT, a lot of the time, what's driving people is the quest for more loot. So if you could make it that we could sell items back to the vendors, and the other cosmetics found in chests, then this would be a welcome idea I think.

Essentially, a chest that opens and contains items already existing in the SoT world, means not that much of a update to your existing game code I would imagine. And it brings in a whole new series of levels to the current chest "tree" of only Castaway, Marauder, Seafarer, Captains, Grog, Sorrows that are available to those who aren't high enough or experienced enough to have completed Skull Forts or are getting Legend Chests.

  • @blackdogbill Good idea!

  • @blackdogbill Really like all the ideas you posted here, they're not huge things but would make such a difference in game - I'm a huge fan of making more use of the ocean and underwater with turtles, oysters and pearls and other items you might find beneath the waves and be able to sell or make use of somehow.

  • @katttruewalker, Now there are already crates that you have to fill with 50 cannonballs before you can sell it, it would indeed be nice to be able to do the same with pearls, shells or bird eggs.

I think it would also be nice to have small artefacts from the ancients, including golden and stone sculptures. You can read more about the artifacts that you collect so that you learn more about the lore.

  • @blackdogbill

Me lady, those are some really nice ideas. I love it, reading such creative suggestions from the community!

  • I would be negatively surprised if these were not implemented.

  • Barrels of Whiskey coming to the game? (The Sea of Thieves Booth at E3 2018)

  • @blackdogbill, @katttruewalker, This topic still has the best ideas, they are small but it seems like fun to collect more stuff (Barrels of Rum/Bourbon, Oysters, Oyster Pearls, Turtles, Crabs, Bird Eggs, Lizards, small bags of coins or even gems)

Maybe a fishing rod is too complex for the moment, but a small fishing net is not, or just catch them with glass bottles (same way if you catch other animals now), there are so many ways to keep the traders interesting and they are just small updates!
