@fgfoot That might be true in some situations, I have no gripes against cross-play. Without it, I would not be able to play with my awesomely friendly crewmates that I have met on the sea`s.

There are many that feel the same way ;)LOL I’m a console player and haven’t struggled since launch. I have no idea what Platform the pirates I’m fighting are playing on.
I swear half of these posts by players could have been killed by Xbox players but jump to hating on crossplay because there’s no way they surely could have lost any other way.
@cptbartroberts, you can buy a (wired) Xbox controller for pc. I have bought one and it provides a better gaming experience for this game.
I play both pc and xbox and i can say there is a clear advantage for pc players. Field of view is much better on pc and the turning and movement in combat is rapid due to keyboard and mouse.
I can honestly see why this is frustrating for console players. I personally like crossplay but i can always tell when a player is using a pc to play the game. Its extremely obvious.

haha best ever and I agree, just this stupid thing the other day I found, had four pigs in cages on the boat, one was standing right behind the first 3 and just that tiny distance the one in the back had his eyes lower quality and there I was thinking humm, is this mythical 1440p and I have so much power I could use and I can't use it because they don't bother and it would be unfair for us to be able to use that power with draw distance etc vs consoles so we are forced down to what consoles can handle in terms off gfx.
Consoles say poor us for having keyboard and mouse vs our controller, I say poor us we got all this gfx power and we can't use it, so we get high quality draw distance and also just in general longer drawdistance , specially on pirates,animals,skeletons.
@cpt-toothpick I'm a PC player and use an Xbox controller. Don't have any issues. You need to skill up.

False. I kill them frequently. There are plenty of good and bad players on both sides.
@cpt-toothpick Doesn't matter if you split the consol and PC servers. They still would not increase draw distance. Not everyone has a 1080ti or even a 1070. They create the game to the lowest spec, and I bet the lowest spec on PC is even less powerful than the Xbox. So no the consol is not lowering your standards it's other PCs.
As a PC player who stubbornly uses a controller cause I find it more comfortable I will say it is obvious if someone is using a mouse and keyboard. As poor of a pvper as I am though it just takes a change of strategy. The last few encounters I have had I used much more defensive approach with blocking and waiting for moments and it can be done. Sure they usually outdo me in the war but it hasn't stopped me from winning a battle or two. If I was actually good at pvp it could be different.

FYI my Ship have gone down the toilet once in over 500+hours of gametime so far so I think me and my "skills" are fine ^^
and that time I was afk when we got jumped untill around we had 1 guy (me) left on the ship after 3 barrels blow up under us. This was in our sloop btw and it was a 4 man gallion using 3 barrels to take us out :P

I have see more post regarding this issue than any other. Only fix is get a PC. SoT has convinced me that PC gaming is the future of this game. After playing on my gaming PC for the last few days, I will never play it on xbox again. I easily reck most console players, and win more than I lose against PC players.
Honestly the game is tons more fun on PC. My strategies are even more successful after playing handicapped on xbox for two months. I solo sunk a galleon laden with treasure last night. Listening to them screaming about the PC guy they can't kill. It was awesome.
I may never buy another game for my xbox, I quit PC gaming last year for many reasons. Now I am back thanks to Rare. I own four xboxes in my home. Two gold accounts, two gamepass accounts. The time of the Microsoft game console is over though, as PC users have much more fun than consoles. The future is now, throw away that pos xbox. It's not a macro, btw.. just regular key/mouse binding. Also capable of doing it on controller. just fire/switch/fire.

@fgfoot for those people who don't understand the benefit of playing on pc are pc players because they ever never going to admit they are no skill players.on the second hand those xbox player who think this is not right have never gone hand in hand combat with a pc player and their spaming keyboard and point and shoot with the mouse, to play with controllers take 100% more skill to kill

I play on both PC and Console, depending on whether my GF is sleeping or not, which is just about a 50/50 split of my free time due to working different shifts.
Besides the short period of control readjustment, I've never had an issue being competitive regardless of control method. In fact, I can argue that some aspects of control are better in the console than on the PC and vise-versa.
Rare has probably done the best job balancing crossplay than any Dev I can think of. Most devs always seem to leave a significant control disparity favoring pc over console, despite claims of balance.
It's all just a matter of practice. I've been owned by console players while playing on PC, and I've owned PC players while on console. If there is a difference, it's small enough that I haven't really noticed it.
The only thing I can suggest is mess around with your controls. Try to remap them to something that makes more sense to you, change the sensitivity and leave it there for while and see if it has made anything better or worse and work your way from there.
I'm sorry you've had a hard time, but the only way you'll get better is accepting that there will ALWAYS be someone better than you and it's not always because of their equipment they have. Blaming it on control method will only frustrate you and make you throw in the towel since you adopt a mentality that due to it being a difference in hardware, there is now way you'll ever get better.

Don't buy this stuff. I played solely on console for two months. This week I downloaded it to PC and I reck every single console player I encounter.
I remapped my controller before I switched to PC. I hot buttoned everything needed for pvp, turned up controller sensitivity all the way weeks ago. Became very proficient, ruining many people's day. Sure I beat many on PC, considering it a bragging right.
After running into several PC galleon crews I broke down. Pulled out the gaming PC, rearranging my game room. The difference was immediately known. The way I can move, jump, strafe and jump is unreal. It's as though I have been playing with a toon that had ankle weights and a neck injury. Combat is so much more fluid on PC it's ridiculous. For me the game has become much more fun, 5x's more fun. I never have to wonder about people being on console or not. After playing handicapped for two months my skill level is crazy high now.
