More than 4 people (6, 8?) need to play music together to summon the Megalodon

  • I'm not 100% convinced the Hungering Deep is a Megalodon but from what devs have said plus the trailer I am pretty convinced that crews need to "work together" by summoning the beast with a certain number of people playing music.

Naturally there should be a reward if you're actually going out of your way to summon it, there may be variables around time and location that you need to be in.

    ...Thoughts?

I hate to be the downer here as I love the idea of crews working with eachother. But.... let's look at raids, can you count on your hands the times you worked with other crews? The reason is... why? Why share? The reward better be unique to the crew, otherwise it will be a bloodbath and a waste of time for half or all but one crew. I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't have all tI'm to play games so I wouldn't want to waste it. They need to figure out how to make each crew get something out of the efforts.
    Time v rewards
    Just my opinion

  • @chocciechip not a megalodon

  • I'm not too excited that you need to work with others to "summon it" if this is true. I'd rather PVP and not share the loot with another crew.

  • @lucrativedoor8 I've worked with crews quite a few times, it just takes making it absolutely clear that all you want is to be friends. Once, we were even Batman to their Damsel in Distress after making a friend.

If you count the times that I've managed to score a truce, number goes way up.

  • @lizardspider sadly their is nothing stopping someone from saying something and doing another though.
It's strategy but the person duped is going to have a hard time trusting anyone after that or may even go so far as to do the duping.
Humans have egos and no one likes to be the sucker, even if that means being the villan.

  • @lucrativedoor8 That's led to a few rules for me. Try these yourself if you like.

    1. Only make friends when you're skint broke. That way, it gives them the karma-screw of getting nothing for betraying, and you're extra charismatic because you've got nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

    2. It's best to make friends out of cannon range. That means parking on opposite sides of island, and both leaving one man aboard. "Trust, but verify," will keep everybody alive.

    3. Lit lights don't mean squat. If they really wanted to signal somebody, they'd know Morse Code. Chances are though, that even if they don't actually know the dots & dashes, they're smart enough to realize what Morse Code is when shown to them.

    4. Pirates are selfish. Don't go in there and expect them to be friends, just because you want to be friends. You've got to give them something for it, a reason not to shoot you, because that's fun too, and safer. Mention the 5-man band achievement, or the drinking together one. Give them a profit to go with you, and suddenly you're not a just a barnacle that can talk.

There's more I'm sure, but I need more caffeine at the moment.

  • God I hope not.

I'm completely against content that regardless of you skill can't be completed without having to deal with external crews.

It's not fun on forts, and it wont be fun with this. 90% of the time its backstab city.. Which is fine, but when you already know what to expect out of people, it's just going to be 3 galleons throwing themselves at each other at skullforts types of bad.
