Harrowing Tales of the Cursed Clover
-The Horror of Crooks Hollow
This is not a story of heroism. More a story of man who would not learn a lesson.
This Story Does not begin at Crooks Hollow but much like the first begins at Shark Fin Camp. We were at a fort working making good time with no interruption, until a sloop pulls up on us (unfortunately no one noticed it getting close.)
Half our crew rushes to our ship in defense while myself and Capt Ironlung rush to the sloop. Were board and proceed to sink the ship while subduing the single man acting as captain on it. According to him he was just trying to be friendly and offer help. (after the events of the first story we don’t trust or make friends with anyone at a fort.)
After he is gone we continue work on the fort, I see his ship making its way back over so I take a cannon to his ship and decide to try and be nice and give him the chance to leave. ( I am on pc so I can push to talk to speak out of party chat when I need to.) The exchange goes something like this.
Me: What are you doing here>
Guy: I was bored so I figured I would come offer you guys help.
Crew Rando (Party): just sink them.
Me (Party): No I am gonna give him the chance to leave.
Me: Look I appreciate the offer but we don’t need help Go find someone else.
Capt Ironlung (party): I am under his boat with a gunpowder barrel.
Me (party): Don’t do it let him leave.
The guys starts trying to say something but there were a lot of voice in my headset.
(Captain Horn Sounds)
Capt Ironlung (party): Welp times up!
Me: C**p I’m sorry I am not a part of this.
Barrel goes off and I jump ship and swim back to the island feeling sorry for the guy.
Ship sinks we finish the fort and get paid. The crew of the Cursed Clover always gets paid.
That is not the end of this story. This story is just beginning. As we leave the outpost freshly unloaded we see a sloop at Old Faithful so we sail over to it hoping to make some easy loot. We have a conversation about how awkward it would be if it was that guy from the fort.
Sure enough it is. We hop on his ship sink it take a few chests. We ask him why he didn’t just server to calmer sees. He passive aggressively goes on about how he doesn’t care.
Not long later we find him again. Let him know he is just making bad choice. He still doesn’t change server.
This time when we see him He runs. (Awesome! He’s Learning at least something.) as he is running he tries to get help from another sloop. The sloop keeps sailing and stops at Crooks Hollow.(Here is where things get good.)
I shoot over to Crooks Hollow alone and take off on the parked sloop slamming it into rocks to sink it. No loot. I finish them off and head back to ship.
Sloop 1 is still running kinda brings us in circles around the region.
Another sloop shows up at Crooks Hollow. I shoot myself over. Awesome! This crew has a chest or two on the boat and dug up another chest on the island. Also Fine Silks on the beach. I sink Sloop two but only kill one crew member. The other is on the island I catch a glimps at him and lose him. Eventually figure he may have caught a mermaid.
I have our ship come to the island and grab this loot. While we are loading the other crew member reappears trying to snipe Capt Ironlung from the water. He gets p****d and jumps in after him taking care of that problem.
We catch sight of sloop 1 again and continue pursuit. I try to shoot myself over or sword dash as we get close but don’t catch the ship. As I get close he would say things like “What’s the matter? Can’t Catch me?.
After a short bit to our surprise one of the ships returned to Crooks Hollow. So guess what? I shoot myself over. Sink that ship. As it is going down Capt Ironlung starts telling me to get back to the ship we are getting close to if not at least him maybe the ship he is trying to talk to.
I get back the other ship leaves sloop 1 starts circling Crooks Hollow. So I once again fire over to hopfully catch him on a pass by. But his ship sinks. Must have scuttled. On the front of the island. Another sloops going very slow. I hear him in chat trying to get the ships attention. I dash and catch the ships ladder board and kill the guy on board. Guy from sloop 1 boards and this transaction happens.
Guy: Hey I wanted to warn you this ship has been chasing me for hours.
Me: I know, Guess who it is?!
Guy: Oh no!
Me: Caught you.
And that was the end of our adventure with him.
