Give Sloop Higher Railings

  • The Sloop needs higher railings to keep players from getting knocked off the boat so easily.

Its pure luck when someone shoots one cannon ball and it knocks someone off of a sloop and then a mermaid doesnt show up for 2 minutes for someone to get back on their boat.

Someone can sink a sloop in one shot if theyre lucky enough to knock the person off of it and a mermaid doesnt pop up. Especially if the person gets stuck with that black screen forever to get back to the boat.

  • @brodycanuck Sloop is op as it is.

  • @rookyclock42

The Galleon is OP if it raises its sails and just twists around

  • Balance wise, I think both ships are fine. At particular distances, I can certainly aim with the intent of killing, or knocking people off their sloops and accomplish it. I'm not a great gunner by any means, but to claim such shots are all "luck" is a bit of a stretch mate.

  • @brodycanuck Much easier to hit a stationary target than a moving one. Everything has a counter. Plus if they stop you can get away easily

  • That is certainly one downside of the sloop. If you take damage on the deck of the ship you're most likely going to get bounced around and probably knocked off your ship. Happened about 4 times today alone when fighting for a skull fort. I seem to (almost) never get knocked off a galleon when fighting, probably just because of the larger deck.

  • @name333

Nope, because they have 3 cannons on the side of their boat, so if they just twist around with their anchor up and their sails up, they will always be able to shoot you, and you cant get away from them because they will just drop their sails and chase you down easily.

    It certainly can be..

2 man sloop vs 4 man swivel galleon. I landed virtually every shot on below the waterline with the hit sound/celebration notification repeatedly vs the galleon and did this with relative speed for perhaps 30 minutes. I'd rarely receive return fire from multiple cannons and when I did they'd usually miss or hit so few that repairs were easily one manned.

My ship was loaded with supplies - clearly theirs was as well.

Sadly, I even bombed them - but they were able to recover quickly by preventing my boarding.

I might have had greater success but couldn't board them and that would have been essential to my efforts.

Finally they must have gotten tired of my duo's presence and fired multiple cannons - when they hit me off deck...

    the fight ended.

It really all came down to a lucky shot that killed my pilot and tossed me overboard.. we couldn't recover from the damage before the mermaid respawn/black screen of stupid loading that should be commit too before you actually load therefore eliminating the loading lol

If I had a video it'd be easier to express my point with validity, I wasn't recording that day.

But the endurance a galleon crew can endure versus a sloop is potentially beyond expectation.

It's balanced.. but your right, a fully crewed galleon does endure quite alot in constrat to a sloop!

Maybe when they offer 4 man sloop :::shudder:::

So their ship goes sideways? If they have three cannons going they have to angle and drop sails. If they are spinning you can start creating distance. Ever hear of an oval?

  • @rookyclock42 lol right?! I run galleons all day driving a sloop all you need is a good driver and great attacker

  • @ur-mi-ma
Alright, but imagine if all 4 people on the galleon were just as good as you are, you wouldnt be running galleons all day.

  • Both ships are pretty well balanced honestly, and adding more players to sloops won't change that...

As for higher rails, it's fine as it is, if you're stationary long enough for someone to cannon you off your sloop you're doing it wrong, that, or they're a good shot and they earned a good ol splash

  • If your sloop is in a position where a galleon can fire upon it, you made a mistake.
If a galleon is in a position where a sloop can fire upon it but they can't, they made a mistake.

It's also quite easy to dodge the cannonballs. They're not particularly fast. :)

  • So if I've got this right, you want them to change the sloop so you don't fall off because your console c***s out when you go back? Seems like you're not addressing the real issue.

  • Last two times I went after the fort in a sloop we both got knocked off on first approach. I agree that it's too easy to get knocked off, though I learned to wait below deck after that.

Man you are clearly inexperienced if you don't know what a Galleon does when its sails and anchor are up, really? Sideways?

Also, "creating distance" is easily lost because the galleon is way faster than the sloop. You can attempt to make the galleon bored by sailing around rocks, but eventually he will get you if they're determined good players.

Every time someone says they're a good on the sloop and can easily kill galleons, I bet those galleons are full of players that aren't good at the game.

  • @brodycanuck Galleon is only faster with the wind. Sloop is faster against it. There's more than two strategies, even if that's all you know.

  • @brodycanuck I’d acknowledge that if I would sink but none have gotten the better of me yet and we attack everyone we see xD
