Spawn Rate of Animals

  • Am I the only one around here who thinks the spawn rate of animals decreases when you need a specific animal for a Merchant Quest?
for example: you need chickens, but all you can find are pigs and snakes?
Or am I just super unlucky?

  • You have websites and apps that can show you the specific locations of animals, sometimes even the best way to travel.

    Exemple : BootyTracker.net

(except it sometimes recommend you to tri-rock island wich is empty, but except from that it's a cool app).

  • Pigs, chickens and snakes never spawn all three of them on one island. It's always a single species or a combination of two.
Anyway, not that we are on topic: does anyone know what the respawn rate is of animals?

  • They respawn instantly if you shoot yourself as far as possible out of a cannon and then mermaid back. Or if you kill yourself.

  • I’ve been trying to level up the Merchant rank and found that the spawn rate of Animals and other items in general seems to drop when you’re on a Merchant quest, I also suspect that playing solo decreases the spawn rate of and animals and random items in general - but that’s just a tinfoil hat theory.

I spent an hour solo today and visited several islands in the search for just two chickens and all I found was one island with pigs and another with skeletons (triggered by a nearby by Galleon). No chickens, no chests, no gun powder barrels and the basic supplies on the islands also seemed to be reduced - the islands were all uncharacteristicly barren when compared to a typical gold hoarder quest played with friends were each island almost always houses animals, gun powder barrels and the occasional random item or chest.

I figure it’s due to the nature of the quest intentionally making you trek across the map to known islands for specific animals. Given the time sink and poor pay out though it just makes me think theyre not worth bothering with.

A trip out looking for random treasure takes less time and pays better.
