A little and funny troll

    Here's what happened:

    I went to an outpost with two gunpowder barrels with me to try a little funny troll. I left a gunpowderbarrel next to the gold hoarders tent, a player comes with a chest whyle I'm hiding far away, I shoot the barrel, he dies leaving the chest infront of the tent. I put another gunpowder barrel behind the tent again without grabbing the chest and proceed ti hide again. He comes back with his crew to defend him, they notice the chest is still there and one of them says "there has to be someone here, there's a mermaid", but another one responds "but nobody took the chest, maybe it's gliched". They proceed to go toghether for the chest, I blow up the other barrel and they all die. I take the treasure chest, go with it to their ship and as soon as they spawn I make myself notizable and say out loud "Ha, Trolled". and leave the chest in their ship for them to take it again, they let me live cause they thought I was just messing around and just laughed in an "angry but hilarious" way. It was quite a funny experience.

    @carlosylu Haha funny trick :) It's nice that you didn't take their chest from them though.

    @princes-lettuce It was a Captain's chest, but I had just done a full fort and got all the loot, so, I was just having a little fun, haha.

    @carlosylu I've been killed and sunk by gunpowder at an outpost with lots of nice loot. Hate is when that happens... But I'm all for a good laugh :)

    @princes-lettuce I mean, if you were on a sloop, those people were just #$%& but if you were on a Galleon, why didn't you take the usual precautions? Or was it a regular troll waiting for you like me?

    @confusedgamer99 What I did is part of the game... And yes, I killed them for laughs.

    In your way of thinking, if I had stolen the loot then I would've been playing as I'm supposed to (as a pirate, stealing and killing for loot) right? and then I wouldn't be a griefer? Or would that make me a griefer playing the game as you should play it?

    Pirates don't kill for sport. Go play CoD if you want to do that.

    It's generally considered griefing in this game if you kill someone for laughs, and not because you're trying to accomplish a goal, like steal booty or defend your spot in a fort.

    @blam320 It's considered griefing when a person does it to p**s off someone else, when they are frustrated and just want to see something burn, when they kill your chickens for the heck of it or drop of your loot while they are in your own team. (Basicly it's the reason behind one's actions)

    When you kill someone and beat him, could have taken the booty but gave it back cause it was good fun to beat them but you didn't want to steal their booty... That's a good game played by that person, while still being gentle and letting them keep their chest.

    That crew knew they were beaten and commended him for doing so without actually taking the loot, they were relieved that even though they got beat they got to keep the booty.
    They didn't feel like they got griefed at all..

    Sorry to break it to you. In the Sea of Thieves pirates DO kill for sport. That's just how some people like to play. Pirates also didn't shoot themselves out of cannons unless they were in the circus.

    It's generally considered griefing in this game if you kill someone for laughs, and not because you're trying to accomplish a goal, like steal booty or defend your spot in a fort.

    Have you ever considered that people might kill you to keep you from killing them first? This is a video game, and its about as cutthroat a video game as it gets. Saddle up.

    @blam320 This pirate most certainly does kill for sport. Always trying to improve my gun and swordplay. So I guess in a way I am killing for a reason...to get better at killing :) See ya on the seas. #sloopofdoom

    That's a legitimate goal. However, OP literally gunpowder-barreled a crew, walked up to them and gloated about it, telling them they were trolled. If someone did that to me in-game, I'd kill them on the spot.

    About as cutthroat as a video game can get? I think that may be a tad bit of an exaggeration. I mean this game looks like a Disney Pixar film, six year olds play it with their parents and a major part of the game consists of chasing oinking piglets around with a crate. Not really my idea of "cut throat".

    Haha, well when you put it that way, sure, it sounds like a kiddy playground. What I mean by "cut throat" is it is the only game I can think of where you can literally play for hours collecting items but if someone else sinks your ship you are out of luck and everything you did in that session was for nothing. I can't think of another game that is so punishing to players for being defeated by another player. But, I may be totally wrong because I don't consider myself an avid gamer by any stretch.

    @jonaldinho I see your point. I just thought "cut throat" was funny after thinking about what this game is about when you really take a step back and look at it.

    I am really looking forwards for Skull and Bones to come out. I am hoping the PvP will be brutal in that.

    @combatxkitty The PVP in Skull and Bones looks pretty intense. I was really hoping that would be a cooperative multiplayer game, but in the trailers it looks like one player controls an entire crew.

    @jonaldinho Yeah that does kind of suck. It does seem like we just get a ship to run ourselves. That is why I really do enjoy SOT. I mean what other game out there can ya run a pirate ship with friends?

    Pirates of the Caribbean: Online, but a number of factors led to it's closure. Including extremely dated graphics and a number of bugs and glitches.

    Kill me on the spot, even when I could've stolen your loot and I didn't? Hahahaha, I'm glad that wasn't you and just some people who have sense of humour that can recognise good luck when they have it (I'm saying this cause THEY DIDN'T HAVE THEIR LOOT STOLEN)

    I do this often but without kegs. i just sit in the tent with a blunder when they are coming and take their loot to sell real quick. they usually come with the best loot first.
