Man o war or frigate?

  • They should ether add one of these because it would have more firepower and a sense of variety. This would be great to add in cursed sails maybe as a ghost textured man o war or frigate

  • @roughleech03117 Man o' War is not a ship per se. Just a British naval term for English warships. Which could be any ship type.

You're thinking of Ship of the Line, or rather it's proper term: the Line of Battle Ships. That term was loosely applied too, but they were front-line ships and as such tended to be the biggest ships with the most guns that a side could field.

  • Would rather see a rebalance with the introduction of a two sail. Make a two sail a 3 to 4 man ship and make the galleon a 5 to 6 man ship. This would create some interesting chaos.

I would prefer a Brig intended for 2-3 people, and leave the Sloop and Galleon where they're at.

The Galleon was clearly designed with four crewmembers in mind, adding a fifth means maximum firepower while still maintaining helm control. A sixth means you have helm, cannon, and flex (repair, bailing, and sails) all accounted for, which would make the Galleon nearly unstoppable, since it can sacrifice one man on the cannon for two repairing/bailing/on sails.

  • @blam320 schooner over brig imo. I'm tired of the square rigged ships and the wide lines they have to sale. I'd like to be able to trim the sails and keep a tack almost straight into the wind. 2-3 players though. Faster than the sloop but turns better than galleon.

  • @roughleech03117 Based on the current crew size and play styles, i would like to see a ship that is designed for a 3 men crew.

  • Would prefer a 3 man, 2 sail, medium sized ship personally.

How could they even add a warship. The games player count is balanced as is. If you add a warship then you’re likely to only come across one or two sloops per session. Pointless.

  • @blam320 exactly. With 2 on a sloop you do have maximum fire power. One at the helm and sails and the other for cannon and repair.

Lol either the sloop is too small for 2 or the galleon is too big for 3.

  • @mrgrim67686 the Spanish called them Man o Wars tae

You actually can do that already. The sailing mechanics are simple enough that tacking into the wind is essentially like sailing a lanteen rig ship.

The sloop was designed for one person originally; they allowed two later in the dev cycle.

  • a middle sized 3 man ship be my vote. Galleon be a bit o' a handful wit' 3.

The problem wit' a 5+ man ship is thar be an achievement for 5 pirates playin' music together so I don't think we'll be seeing 5 man crews.
