Hi there, just a little question:
Will it be possible to change the overall appearance of a character in the future? Like size, skin colour or face?
Are there any plans (e.g. for real money?)
Changing Character appearance
I hope so. Those long jogs, climbing and carrying chests really ought to lead somewhere; other than sleeping with fishes in the end. It's odd that the activities don't have any influence to our bodies. Where are all the meals, the feasts and mead halls?
Why not allow us have a chance to change the body type of our character based on what activities we have done during a session at the end of a session? We wouldn't have to change it if we didn't want to, but the chance would be good enough to keep us occupied and satisfied longer.
Plus, the body type could influence the instances as well to further diversify the journey.
The developers stated that they don’t want the game to be influenced by “you” specifically. They wanted to make an original pirate game that had unique pirate characters and not just a bunch of copies of what you would look like. Partly because that’s what players base their characters off of. You currently have the option to “scroll” through and regenerate new pirates at the start but further customization apart from the random generator is very limited to clothing. Hope this helped.
Yes please! When the game came out I wasn’t onboard with players wanting to change their appearance.
However I’ve since started regretting my choice. For a start, in the IPG my pirates hair appeared black and I couldn’t see his awful tattoos. Unfortunately it’s only black when there’s no sunlight... and light brown any other time. I get it’s not a huge deal but it’s not what I wanted.
I hate the tattoos my pirate has on his chest and wrists which forces me to wear coats and gloves. On top of this this, because I chose the fatter pirate model, all coats and shirts look warped and stretched. They don’t look great and I regret wasting all my gold because they don’t look good enough.
Monster hunter world added a one time use ticket a month or two after launch which allowed us to change our appearance completely, yet it also allowed us to keep all our stats and progression.
I’d like to see something similar in SoT’s. If I didn’t lose all my progress I would have deleted my pirate in a heartbeat. As it stands I have a pirate I’m not happy with.

Be more specific. I think your sentence here presents a bit too general take on the matter.

Originality is not an issue, I wager. IPG made sure of it. Issue is what happens and what doesn't happen after IPG. Even if we wanted to make a character into our own image, we can't coz the variables won't allow us to customise characters into exact copies of ourselves no matter what game is in question... yet. Not that we all would be unsatisfied.
We can customise everything else except body type which is odd when the palette of field influence is considered; cartoon style poses no hindrance, but simply a different angle. Point is that if we don't have the whole palette of general body type options in the field, then disappointment is bound to ensue.
Issue is not about having copies of ourselves wandering around, but the lack of directions.

Not necessarily. Some do, but not everyone. Some players base their characters to fit the fantasy they wish to act out. Sometimes some people make characters based on what we could look like. Denying the chance to at least verify some resemblance from a group of people is usually a mistake; not necessarily coz they want their characters to look like them, but existence as an option presented to everyone.

Clothing at least allows further influence. I wish the activities influenced the characters too. Not because the characters ought to look like us, but because different body types could influence the instances themselves to reflect our existence and competence instead. Going out there on a voyage as a nimble runt versus beefy nutter, both able to handle a part in their shared story, would be a beautiful scenario to witness.

How about we have a chance to change our body type at the end of a session based on activities we performed during it? Chosen shape would affect further instances to reflect our decision in a form of relatable challenge.
for me it would be fair enough if i can choose between 3 different pirate models at the start of a session. So i can decide which "role" i wanna play. But i can understand if the developers deny that. In this case i recommend a plastic surgery :D even for a ton of gold. Or even once at all.
To be honest, i thought i could change my pirate between the 3 "saved" ones in the selection screen and was kind of unsatisfied after finding out i have only one character without changing option
I would like to be able to change my character is tattoos, eye and hair color and maybe thier body type. The complaint am hearing from a lot of people is they just wanted to play the game and by the time they realize they couldn’t change the character they were already too invested with rep so I think there should be an edit character feature
