Fix Treasure Glitch ASAP Please

  • I’m so aggravated right now, I found a 6 chest message in the bottle quest, dug-up 3 Captain’s and 3 Seafarer’s chests plus found 1 Marauder Chest.

Placed them in my Sloop was about to set sail, when a frigen skelly cannon blasted me so fast I could’t save my ship.

I raced back to where my Sloop sunk and found all 7 chests slowly sinking but I couldn’t grab them and no matter what I did. I spent about 30min trying to grab the chests only to have them all disappear right before my eyes.

This sucked so bad, I spent so much time digging these up only to loose it all because of a glitch.

I’m done with this game until s**t like this doesn’t happen anymore.

How is a skeleton on a cannon a treasure glitch?
But you should never park your ship in view of a cannon on an island.
Which kind of sucks on Smugglers Bay, because that cove is nice to park your ship in... Too bad that there is a skeleton that keeps spawning at the cannon aiming into the cove with infinite cannonballs... I kind of got off track here.
It is your own fault for parking your ship in a location where skeleton cannon fire could hit you. That is not a glitch.

  • @danish-crusader the skelton was not the glitch, the Treasure not being accessible was.

My iPad doesn’t interact well with the user interface of the forums when posting.

I was at Smugglers Bay and had to hide my Sloop within the cove for a galleon and another sloop were nearby and I was alone.

@aaronblueeyes And how is the treasure a glitch? You got 6 chests out of a map with 6 X'es. No glitch there.

  • Not being able to pick them up in the water is the problem... had this happen to me once...

  • The glitch is that you sometimes cannot interact with them in water or other places, so when OP tried retrieving them he couldn't and they ended up despawning.

  • I lost a group of valuable treasure from this error as well. I have discovered that in part some of the loot may be retrieved if allowed to...after dozens of minutes watching and waiting.... sink to the bottom. Even that is sketchy at best.

In my example I watched for several minutes as the loot would slowly drop to the bottom in jerks. Meaning there'd be no movement then suddenly some of the loot would drop a small distance in a blink. Some would finally get to the bottom by doing this, which at that time allowed it to be looted.

I don't recall the number, but I'd say of 10 chests I reclaimed maybe 2.

I am certain it took over 15 minutes in total.

  • @sniffyn0se Ah, now that makes sense.
Yeah that would be annoying, sounds like a lag issue with the server.
Like the chest is not where it is being shown and therefor you cannot interact with it because it is in another place than being shown to you. It's a sync issue between you and the server.
Happens in all online games actually, don't know if they can fix that.

  • Yeah, I did the same hoping all of it would hit the cove’s floor. Only 2 seafarers chests actually hit the bottom everything else was suspended and never sunk but bugged out and shifted up or down but never hit the bottom.

Only the 2 that hit the floor I could interact with but everything despawned right in front of me after spending so much time trying to recover them.

I simply can’t justify spending hours doing voyages only to have all the play and time be p****d away cuz I can’t grab my Treasure chests.

Between this and having Treasure stashed then seamlessly migrating to another server to find out its not there anymore ruins the whole experience.

Every time... every time with you solo sobbers: playing this game solo is playing on extreme difficulty hard mode!
Or would you go to dark souls forum and say: uhhh your game is so bad i couldnt even fight enemies naked while im supposed to wear armor and a weapon...

Yeah you heared me: you are supposed to play sea of thieves with people not alone!

Its like you are telling me "boooohoooo its the games fault that..."

    1. I made a bad decision
    2. I was unlucky
    3. Playing on hard mode is too difficult for me
    4. I played risky
    5. This game hurt my feelings
      ...

Because playing solo is all this:
    Risky
    Difficult
You will get unlucky quite fast
    ...

Or would you play games like payday solo?

  • @genereder You should really read what it is you are replying to.

  • @genereder you sir are a moron and took this topic completely in the wrong direction.

Firstly, I play the game with friends when they are avail.

Secondly, the game is engineered for both solos and full crew play. Watch some of the discourse between Phil Spencer and Rare, this is literally a talking point.

Lastly, I’m not complaining the game is too difficult as a solo sloop, for I soloed Skull Fort earlier and that was how I located the message in a bottle voyage. I’m complaining how the fundamentals of the game are broken and must be fixed.

Rare can’t have a Pirate game where the goal is to collect treasure and sell it for coin when the treasure vanishes or isn’t interactive and therefore lost due to a bug or glitch.

That’s like being in a racing game like Forza for instance and having a race start, the player hits the gas pedal but the car doesn’t move and the player looses the race because they can’t drive.

  • yesterday we had a battle while a raid,we killed the boss ,brought the key on ship n got sunked, but the hostile ship sunked also ,so the key was floatin around the fort.when we came back i sight a gunpowder barrel, kinda far from the fort.under the floatin barrel whas the sinkin fortkey, it was no problem to grab the key,but without the floatin gunpowder barrel we would never have found the key

  • Lost 4 villianous skulls to the kraken on a 3-man galleon just outside the outpost a week or so ago. They’re floating right there... but can’t be grabbed. This is the dumbest thing ever. Either make them sink faster or keep them grabbable - I don’t care which - but don’t taunt me with them like that.

  • @genereder If this happened to a Galleon, they would probably make the EXACT SAME POST. It's a glitch. It's not a complaint about player balance.
READ before you reply. I know it's hard, but try it one time.

  • Sorry for others whom have experienced the same or similar, it’s terrible that our loot is literally right there in front of our faces and we can’t do anything with it.

It’s game-breaking that our objective reward system has this major flaw, Rare please remedy this on the next patch.

  • I've had this very thing happen on our galleon. I've seen 20+ chests all lost to this glitch. It's quite infuriating.

  • I've updated OP to show gameplay footage as reference of this tragic tale, in hopes that this issue is resolved soon.

  • I believe the OP did experience a glitch... Treasure, if visible, should be interact-able.

I've updated OP to show gameplay footage as reference of this tragic tale, in hopes that this issue is resolved soon.

The fix to the issue is not being sunk with treasure on board, and when you are sunk you should move the treasure onto land before grabbing your new boat.

It may be a glitch, but it is not a big deal because you can look at it as once it starts to sink its lost.

  • @rattlyfob you weren't there so let me clarify a few things for ya friend.

Did you think I said to myself: let's get a new bloody boat while my treasure is floating in the water?

My ship was sunk as I was on the Ferry of the Damned, after re-spawning I sailed back to where my ship was previously sunk. So, I didn't have the luxury of collecting my plunder and placing it on solid ground after eating a cannon-ball while on the helm.

My treasure was loaded onto my Sloop in order to sail away and sell it—the chests did sit on the sand for the duration of my voyage in-case my ship sunk while I was away from it.

I've recovered sinking treasure from my crew and other crews in the past, the game has been designed so that as long as we can reach and see the treasure it can be recovered. Once it's been handled again it will be buoyant once more.

So, yes this is a big deal. Players like myself have had numerous instances where the treasure is there, but bugged-out.

Treasure only should be lost when it reaches the flotation timer in deep waters where players can't reach it without drowning due to significant water depth. If it's visible and shallow enough for players to recover the loot, then it ought to persist similar to treasure on land. But at the very least be obtainable when it's within arm's reach before de-spawning.

I think you mis understand.... you need to accept that if you are sunk and killed you loat the loot. Until you turn it in it does not belong to you. It is unfortunate that you arrived just in time to see it sink, but once it starts to sink you need to accept that it is probably lost. Infact you should be happy you were able to get to chest regaurdless of their value.

The best fix to the glitch is not not die and not let your ship sink.

  • @rattlyfob said in Fix Treasure Glitch ASAP Please:

The best fix to the glitch is not not die and not let your ship sink.

No, I did not misunderstand your argument but rather disagree with it entirely.

You stated above: "The best fix to the glitch is to not die" but that's not a fix at all, nor does it resolve the glitch in anyway. At best you're suggesting to avoid the glitch—which most would agree are generalizations of things to avoid in the game, not to die nor have your ship sunk.

Nor do I need to accept that if I'm sunk my treasure is lost, for in a myriad of situations that's simply not the case.

I'm going to look thru my streamed footage to see if I captured my crew recovering about 5 sinking chests of nearly 15 submerged from a rival Galleon sinking. These chests were deeper than what mine were and greater in number. The difference... they worked the way they were supposed to. Even while submerged as long as treasure is within arms reach and visible it's supposed to be interactive. I even took the time to select the more valuable chests we wanted over the lesser valued ones.

  • @aaronblueeyes genereder has issues with solo sloop players from what I can gather because he regularly shares his opinion when ever a solo sloop player shares theirs. Enough said. Anyway I personally haven't encountered this glitch and hope I don't have to. Unless they've changed it skeletons cant be sniped if they are on a cannon. I shot one skeleton 10 times while he was on a cannon and he didn't die which when they fire shots like they do and your solo is really frustrating.

  • Yeah, I recall either during beta or shortly after launch our crew's inability to kill skelly's that manned cannon's on active skull forts, but I think that's been resolved.
