T for Teen.

  • I see alot of people saying that minors etc should not be playing this game for reason of T for Teen.

Let's address this. I warn you now this is going to lead onto a PvE discussion. I've opened a thread about this before and will continue to do so if the topic deserves discussion.

There's a common argument that minors / people below a certain age shouldn't be playing this game because it's rated T for Teen. Alright fine, I get it, tho a third party rated this game as teen rated.

Now let me ask a question, honest answers only please. How many of you played Call of Duty before you hit the rated mark. Let's go abit further back, some of you might not understand this, that's fine, however; I'm placing a bet here that a fair few of you may. How many of you played Mr Larry and his adventures to finally claim the ultimate prize, but never managed to? Those games were also rated and despite the fact we were young we also played those games, despite the fact they were rating 17+. Lets try to accommodate this, rather than alienate.

Leading on, taking the above into consideration, despite the age rating and also referencing of the code set down by rare themselves, all ages are going to play this game. Whether or not they should be is a entirely different matter. You've all played games whether now or in the past that isn't recommended for your age. If you've been pure to the recommendations of game ages then kudos, but you more than likely haven't.

Now, with hope of trying to dispell the illusion of "there's only people aged teen+" playing the game (there isn't incase you missed it, there is minors playing the game, and some folks are ignorantly finding it fun to blow the c**p out of their boats since this is call of duty but on water), let's lead on.

You often find threads about folks letting their kids play, and often you'll see that the wiser of parents don't let their kids anywhere near voice chat and, rightly so. You'll also often see stories of parents saying that their kids no longer want to play, simply due to the fact that someone found it a good use of their time to fire all cannons on a boat that simply was just trying to pass by.

Take the above few paragraphs above into mind. The game may be rated T for Teen, but kids playing this game, absolutely.

Options need to exist. PvE servers, PvE flags (that disables voice chat).

However we may proceed, something needs to exist for, not just people who want to play PvE only. But for everybody and anybody that has no desire for social interaction. For example, parents letting their children play (for the record, this game is built around the fact minors can absolutely play, some folks have just decided it's competitive.. god knows why!)

Rare has made a fantastic sailing game, commendable. Options however need to exist for the game to prosper. Many other games separate each mode by option and they all still exist today because of it (WoW, Warframe and the likes).

Please be open minded about this and not narrow minded. A narrow mined response is "it'll never happen because rare said so and I like PvP, it's never going to change". Also please don't link the PCGamer topic where it says "never", read to the bottom of that article where it says private servers may exist, which ultimately could be a PvE server.

Here's to hoping that we can have a common ground option and those options provide playable circumstances for us all. Whether that be blowing everybody up, or digging up some chests peacefully.
