Crossplay and Windows Game Edition - (GOOD)

  • So I

    Hi,

So I have had the game since launch and have played with both Xbox and PC Versions and both sets of players. I have found both good and bad players on both systems, and both arguments for and against cross play.
I really like the cross play, being able to use with one of my Xboxes or my laptop to play exactly the same game. Coming from consoles mainly over the years I like how the Xbox App and game client works. You install if from an app and that’s it. The settings are basic but it looks great, runs great on my laptop. All these people complain about how it should be on steam and get rid of the Xbox app fail to see how that then would kill its Xbox cross play feature. This is a PC title yes, but an Xbox Title first, I’ve asked a few people what other Xbox games they have played and they answer with, I don’t own an Xbox do I, I’m on PC, so far I’ve enjoyed Halo Wars 2, Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsport 7 on cross play. I just think that it’s not been sold well enough what you are getting with Sea of Thieves, it’s not your traditional PC release its bound to Xbox and plays on PC so it’s got to be cross play and it’s going to be somewhat dumbed down from other PC games.
Does it mean it’s not a good game, no not at all. I hope that they continue to make the Windows Store better and make more cross platform, cross play games end the end I can actually see games being a lot like Sea of Thieves, one version all platforms. Minecraft are doing it too and Nintendo Switch is also included.
All those asking for a steam release, separate servers for PC etc. I think you will be disappointed and should wake up and smell the grog now. I probably agree kb/m users have an advantage in some areas, but I feel controllers are more comfortable and sometimes there are tactics you can use, even using the same hardware someone could have a 3 monitor setup with surround sound and mechanical keyboard, or be using there 4 year old laptop and the touch pad. Someone on Xbox could be using the elite controller with the paddles who is an amazing fps player. Rare have hit the fun nail on the head so to speak, everyone had the same base game it what you do with that makes the difference.
