Use of a wind banner/Masthead Fly instead of wind streams

    With the games attention to details in so many areas, it makes me wonder a bit why we decided to go with these large wind streams in order to determine wind direction. Current sail boats use more advanced meters, but a simple flag would show the direction maybe even more clearly than the existing wind streams that we currently see.

    Adds to realism and looks cool to boot. We could even customize them.

    theres a flag at the top of the mast. usually white or something

    There is a flag, at the top of the mast - I always use that to determine the wind direction, rather than the sometimes-ambiguous wind streams.

    The white flag on top of the mast of each ship actually does always flow with the wind, but the windstreams were added to make it easier to see. It would be nice to have a disable option for players that want to use the flag instead.

    There is a flag on top of the crows nest, however I'd love it if they removed the wind stream and replace it by adding more flags to use to determine the direction of the wind

    I am already enjoying the game due to the non-existent HUD. I like having to rely on my crew members and myself to get a heading prior to departure and then checking map and compass every now and then to keep on track.
    I would love to be able to disable the Windstream marker to rely on the flag up top or even mess with the sails until they blow out with the gust. There is already a good amount of realism in the game, you can always add a bit more and the game remain fun.

    Well I mean, there is a glitch that makes you unable to see the wind streams, so I’ve had to use the flags quite a few times.

    It’s equally neat as it is a big inconvenience.
