Render scaling. (PC)

  • Currently there is no option for render scaling in the game. And this is something i would like to see in the near future and i'll tell you why.
I have got an extremely powerful machine. I'm running really demanding games on my PC and i usually sit above 144 frames a second at all times no matter what. If that doesn't make any sense to you then let me put it in perspective for you. Sea of Thieves runs at 30fps 1080p (900p?) on the original Xbox One meanwhile i'm sitting at over 250fps at all times with Mythical settings on (best looking graphical option) at 1080p. If you don't know what FPS means then google "Frames per second" See i don't care about 250fps because i can only see 144 since i've got a 144hz monitor. What i do care about is the fact that i can still see jaggy edges due to the lack of Anti-aliasing options in game and with render scaling, this usually solves the problem. I can easily scale games up to a resolution of 4K and still sit at over 100fps.
Please bring render scaling for us PC players, thank you. Those jaggy edges is not something i enjoy looking at, its a beautiful game you've created, make the best of it

  • @notoriety-red You can do this from your video card. Usually in the drivers section, virtual super resolution or some business. Enable that and then you should be able to bump your game up to whatever resolution you want.

  • @Notoriety-Red
If you have an NVIDIA card, just enable DSR scaling from the control panel and then set your desktop to the scaled resolution.

If you have an AMD card, just enable VSR scaling from the control panel and then set your desktop to the scaled resolution.

Open the game and under video settings, set 'native' resolution and you have your 4K or whatever...

Doesn't matter how 'extremely powerful' your machine is, if you don't know how to use it ;)

  • @mrbrocksego You're on about DSR yep, i've enabled this but the UI suffers from this.

  • @super-poopsy I do know how to use DSR, i forgot to mention it. The UI suffers terribly from DSR and so i dont like to use it, thats also a good reason to implement render distance istead of setting the native resolution to a DSR resolution

  • @Notoriety-Red
    Have you actually tried?
I just enabled it on my rig and SoT UI at 4K scales perfectly and it's identical to 1080p.
