Megalodon encounter.

  • My take on the Megalodon (if added), would be you hear a roar-like noise in the distance and you see the water rise up (like a wave). Then the fin surfaces and if its heading your way you need to drop anchor, because if your moving you'd get crushed instantly (sloop) galleons have a chance at fighting it. So staying still as it passes you while rocking your boat severely is your best chance at survival.

We're gonna need a bigger boat!

  • Do sharks roar :o?

  • @elf-wo1f doesn't have to be a roar, just an echoing noise or something to make you go There be a megalodon around here

  • Sounds good, while there adding this add whales, dolphins, whale hunting with spear and harpoons :)

  • @bl00d-thirty-99 Did you see this concept artwork for sharks on twitter recently?

    That's a big fish.....

  • So the Kraken constantly whines in the background... but you can only hear the Megaladon when it's coming for you? And its attack is to make a wave?

  • @raphaeloh01 you hear it when it arrives, you see a bulge in the ocean that's where it surfaces (spawns) and then you see the fin. If you'r in the direction of the Meg you need to drop anchor ASAP, other wise if your in a sloop you'll disappear into the ocean and next thing you know your on the ferry of the damned. It wont attack you when your stationary, it will attack galleons but they can put up a fight back.

  • @bl00d-thirty-99 That sounds like the suggestion I had for a whale... I mean, there were already sharks!

  • @bl00d-thirty-99 I like the idea, other than the part that it just instantly kills sloops and galleons, I think it should just severely damage it so much that you have to have really good coordination in order to survive

  • i think it should ram your boat and cause holes (like 4 say) and you need to shoot it or harpoon it in the face to get it to turn off from ramming you. i also want there to be a chance for the ramming to knock you into the water where he can eat you (insta death) if you dont get back on fast enough

  • @j-train13x it wont insta kill a galleon, only sloops but it has a better chance of finding a galleon than a sloop anyway. It will grab the galleon from 1 side and will push it the opposite way, while making holes every 8 seconds, threatening the risk of flooding or being pushed into a rock/island until it is shot off as cannons cant reach it.

  • Same pinochio!!

Sharks don't roar... but you could do like jaws esq music in the background.

Dropping anchor would be a bad idea considering it could catch the currently invisible line and drag you...

I think they should add a new weapon in the form of a harpoon gun that is used underwater with minimal range on land, then make it so guns dont work underwater. Then you can yse the harpoon gun to fight the megaladon.

As far as spawning goes, I think he should come anytime 6 or more people die in the water. CHUMMING. So if you get in a big battle you better warch out!

As for how he/she interacts with the ship she could smack it and cause it to rock and knock sailors off and do damage to the ship.

  • Not sure I would want to see Megalodon at all here, as it would be kind of out of place. I mean the fascination of it is a very modern thing and not a part of classic seafaring myths and legends like the Kraken is.

  • @only-alexraptor I would really love to see the kraken buffed up, not to concerned about the body i just want the tentacles to be a little bit more violent. As for the Meg even if its not the actual meg it could be rares take on it.

  • @rattlyfob Yea no roars, just a theme like the kraken when that thing strikes or a low echo-sound, and i believe the harpoon gun was a thing but not to sure about it. And yes you pretty much nailed it about knocking players off the ship.

  • @bl00d-thirty-99 that's the point, give the sloops at least a chance

  • @raphaeloh01 not just the kraken something else to...

  • Megalodon that swallowed a fiddler and plays ghostly music when it comes close.

  • Id be happy with moby d**k, kinda suits more aswel. harpoons at the ready boys.

  • Megalodon? But, but... Yeah, ok, that's a pretty neat idea, and surely should happen, but let's expand that idea a bit :)

    I rather enjoy sharks so far, but do believe they could be more than a "finish him off" mechanic when you're at sea too long. How about... SHARK HARPOONING! Just off the top of my head, it'd go something like this;

Add a new faction, the harpooneers or something. They'll give ya a contract to catch specific sharks, which require specific bait (either gathered or simply given like merchant cages). You now gotta stand on your ship and use a hand-thrown harpoon (would have no effect on ships, let's not go PvP crazy yet. That's for another post), which you gotta hit your desired shark with. Once hit, the shark will swim away like a wounded animal would, and pull your ship along. You then gotta counter its movements somehow to tire it out, throw more harpoons at it lest the rope breaks, and repair your ship from the ensuing damage. Once defeated, shark inspired loot could be gained and sold to the vendor for gold and rep.

And now, enter... The megalodon! This is basically the skull fort of sharks, a beast so massive only galleons can handle it. Whether or not sloops could actually join here can be up for debate, but they sure would be disadvantaged. The mechanics of this encounter I dare not even guess at, it could involve shooting the thing with cannons for all I care. Anywho, once defeated, it would drop items of great value. And if you're not prepared for it? Well, many a ship has been sunken before you, don't feel bad ;)

Anywho, that's just what's off the top of my head, I kinda want the Megaladon, but also a point to it and sharks :)

  • @bl00d-thirty-99 I like the idea of a Megalodon but I think they need to fix the Kraken before we add more sea monsters.

  • @alphacenturion2 Or even better; Add the megaladon and let it sort out the kraken! Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, let's do it!

  • I recommended this about a year ago:
