I kind of hate having to go and look at the ship's map to locate something, so I have a proposal. What if players can buy/find a cursed map that is more "zoomed in" than the boat's map and follows the player. (NOT A MINI-MAP IN THE CORNER!) You can unravel a scroll and reveal a map that gives you a more detailed view of islands and there is NO ZOOM IN OR OUT FUNCTION to insure that the boat's map is still relevant.
The reason why I call it a cursed map is because having a map that follows your location like Google Maps makes no sense. It is for "immersion".
