When you press 3 or click on bananas three freaking times, the game should actually select the banana.... Come on Rare. It's hard enough playing solo with 6 skeletons that pop up all with guns.
How about we remove skeletons having the ability to have guns or make it so there is a limit on how many can spawn with guns?
@gleaminx ok i understand now. I normally just smash the hell out of my banana key until it comes up in the heat of battle lol

It isn't hit or miss. However, the game doesn't cue the action so you have to wait until any other animation has finished, such as swinging your sword. It is a bit of a pain and could be improved without too much trouble.
This is the problem. It's not exactly a new concept either. Really makes me wonder whether or not these devs ever played or even saw another video game in their lives.

@watchmefly420 You can, but mapping it to clicking the right thumbstick works better, as you don't have to take your thumb off the sticks to press it.

You can hotkey it to the dpad... check out your settings. The right and left directional buttons are by default, not bound to anything, but can be bound to any action or item you like.

^ This man knows his stuff. Heed his wisdom. Also have my lantern hotkeyed to the d-pad. Considering hotkeying it to the pirate chat wheel though since I use a mic exclusively.

I actually made a thread say this exact same this unfortunately no has replied yet but never mind the point is that like you said its frustrating. I have so many times accidently equipped my shovel when I have tried to quickly equip my spy glass. Glad to know I'm not the only one having this issue and now I know PC players can hotkey it has to be an option for xbox players even more so.

The issue is really there with pulling out any item but the bananas are the worst.
I have the same problem. I have hotkeyed the banana to de D-pad, but everytime I press it, it takes a good 1-2 seconds to equip.
Most of the time I press the RT button too fast and I start doing a sword dash instead... which will miss, ofcourse... and then I get that 2-3 second recharge animation... and then I die... crying
